Re: ResScan 3.10 -> 3.14

Post by greg-g » Thu Apr 21, 2011 6:53 am

I'm running 3.14 on my Windows Ultimate 7 x64 with no problems at all. It like most other 32 bit applications is run from the Program Files (x86) directory and not in XP Mode.
XP mode is only available in the Windows 7 Professional, Ultimate, and Enterprise versions and I admit that while I have it I've never used it.
Sorry I can't be of any further help.

No worries, I figured it out and posted the fix in the original post. Thanks for your reply. I think it has something to do with the fact that XPMode uses a very resize-able desktop, especially when XP-Mode integration is enabled.

I don't have any issues using 3.14 straight from Windows 7 Ultimate x64. No need whatsoever to run it from XP Mode, although I DO have it, as well.

Ok, so how come I can't get 3.14 to install on my new 32 bit Intel Atom 1.8 Gig/4 Gig RAM 'puter with Windows 7? Installer says "Unsupported Platform."

The release note for 3.11 says there are still some minor problems but gave no indication if what they are.

Hello
These are not problems but what is known in the trade as undocumented features.

I expect so. Funny, but after saying "Unsupported Platform" and saying, essentially, "G'day, Mate," and dumping me out of the installer, it left an ResScan icon on my desktop. So I double clicked it and it opened. Seems to be OK.

Most odd.

[Ok, now I see what it was. After uninstalling it and then re-installing it, it says ACR-38 Unsupported Platform. So it's apparently the driver for the USB card reader that's all tsemisht, you should pardon the expression.]

I just tried to install 3.14 and got the same message. I put my data card in the drive slot of my PC and ran ResScan any way. All appeared to be going great. It showed 16% on the data download and the entire application ended. Ii just went away. I have no idea what I am doing wrong or if it will even work on my PC.

I am running a 64 bit Toshiba with Windows 7.

I'm running the 32 bit version of WIn 7 Home Premium in a new installation. Haven't yet had time to actually try to read my data card, but ResScan seems to be working Ok. At least it grabs and displays detailed data I stored on an external USB hard drive. And of course the .pdf reports I've archived are OK, too.

The ACR38 error at the end of installation bothers me 'cause I didn't have anything plugged into any of the USB ports except my external HD. ACR38 appears to be a standard for USB 2.0 card readers. From reading past posts it appears lots of folks with S8 units had ACR38 related problems.

I'm off to the Pacific Northwest for a few days where my Intellipap is waiting for me, so it's not an issue right away. Hoping someone might know what the problem is.

slart, did you install the drivers? If so, that may be the cause of the message.

Nope, didn't know that was required. I clicked on "USB data card reader" when asked where data was going to come from during installation and figured the reason ResScan was asking was so it could install the drivers. So do you have to install the drivers separately? This is my 3rd install/upgrade and I've never seen this error before, nor have I had to mess with data card drivers.

I'm thinking maybe I'll add a partition into my HD and install WIn XP in it and install ResScan there along with all my old software. I've not done a dual boot system before. Should be an adventure. Maybe WIn 7 is just too new to mess with with some applications.

I would recommend uninstalling and then reinstalling. When you reinstall, do not check any of the boxes. Leave them all unchecked. You do not want to install any of the drivers that ResScan offers for specific hardware. Your system already has the needed drivers. I think the problem is that you installed the drivers for a proprietary ResMed USB card reader when you do not have that proprietary card reader.

Unless you have a Resmed brand reader, none of the drivers are needed.

UncleBob suggested uninstalling 3.14 and then installing 3.13 which I did. ResScan opened up and automatically started reading my SD card. Again, it got to 16% and ResScan shut down.

Does anyone have a clue what I need to do to get around this issue? Please.

I am a new S9 user and don't have any software. Can you please provide a link for me to obtain this? Thanks.
