POLL: What was your AHI at your diagnostic sleep study?

Post by jnk » Wed Aug 12, 2009 4:01 pm

Based on a great question in a recent thread by Necro(viewtopic/t44203/Intro-and-Who-here-has-AHI-100.html), I thought it might be interesting to find out what the original-study AHIs were for present board users who had a diagnostic study.

Edit: Remember, just as Georgio points out later in this thread, that AHI is the number of events per hour, not the total number of events for the night.

I was handed a post-it with 62 scribbled on it by the PA at my sleep center. Had to go back the next nite cuz the sleep tech never asked me to sleep supine. So back I go the very next nite for more titration took me from 13 to 17 cm.

Then about 6 months later when they wanted me to go back again bc my dx session was only 109 minutes and required to be min 120 min. I fired the money grubbers. I haven't looked back. In 2 nites they couldn't get 120 min dx? by bye bi

So they wanted me to go have 124 more apneas so they could cover 11 more minutes.
oh for another $3,500.
NOT

My AHI was only 40.1 but my RDI was 42.7 and in REM it was actually 66.5! so not quite sure what's going on. Won't actually see the dr. again until oct. but have titration scheduled for the 21st of Aug. I'm hoping i'll have a new birthday present by the 18th of Sept!

According to what I read here in this forum, sleep studies are at least approximative and titration not much better. I would make a global deal for a fair educated guess applying to both aspects of the question.

This is probably why we all have to adjust our machines by ourselves if we want optimum treatments. There are also many other factors like EPR that are not taken into account by "sleep doctors", APAP vs CPAP etc... that make their prescription many time largely out of the target.

There is great parallel between OAS and diabetes as ultimately there is only one person that can take care of us and that person is the patient himself. We have no other choice than being competent patients, better than many doctors involved in this business and surely better than most of the DME personnel ...

AHI of 60.0 per hour. Now I am averaging 2.3. I did notice that in both my first sleep study and also the titration I had 11 central episodes. I increased my pressure from 10 to 10.5. I am having good results, but do I need to be careful about raising it any more-- seein as how I had 11 centrals?

Our machines count all events, obstructive and central. So if raising the pressure ever increased my AHI for the week, I would back it back down.

My AHI was 113... after Titration, I have been changing the pressure between 8-10. My Dr first prescribed 10, now it's been between 9 and 9.8... AHI ranges between 3 and 10 now.

Original AHI- 113, with 68% Oxygen saturation- That is scary!

my AHI at titration was 98& they set my pressure at 8 & AHI of 4. With self titration my pressure on my apap runs 9.5- 12 & my AHI is between 0-2.1, most nights ranging 0.01-o.25. Feeling much better.

I'm still learning all these different things but mine was 126.6
So I have more ???
What is titration?
How can I get my current levels from the CPAP?
I dont have the software, I do have the card in the CPAP I just dont have a way to read it unless that can be done through the LCD panel on the machine.
