auto mach with data question

Post by bnebz » Mon Apr 20, 2009 11:40 am

Spouse currently has F&P sleep style 234, has trouble with pressure over 9, just finished auto titration with F&P sleepstyle auto. Most of the time I noticed his pressures were below 9, although one time went crazy to 18 and he had to hold his breath, he ref to wear it..i was able to get it back on him by lowering the max to 10, then 12, then 14 was pushing my luck... question..dme may let him keep this auto.( they only deal with F&P0. They ref to give us copies of his read out from this trial...If we keep this auto, how do I get the software..F&P direct wont sell to the community.. and...If by chance I can get our doc to write a new script..which auto should we look into...I would prefer one that has data reading on lcd vs downloading frequently. During his initial cpap titration his AHI went from 32%-24 % on cpap @10, but it created central apneas So really not good improvement in my book (with cpap)

If he is sensitive to centrals ... probably a bi-level machine is what is needed. Other more knowledgable members will chime in with appropriate advice.

Nonetheless, you have found the best forum to learn about your husband's condition and how to treat it. Best wishes for a speedy treatment plan.

Hi,

I'm prejudiced ... but I love my Sandman Auto (successor to Puritan Bennett). It has an LCD display that shows the basic numbers for the last few sessions (not averaged) and also has software for more detail. In addition, I have a problem with AHI going "nuts" when my pressure gets to around 14 and therefore had to run my Respironics M-Series at a fixed pressure of 13 to avoid problems. The Sandman Auto has some settings to avoid "chasing apneas" that work well for me.

Others like the DeVilbiss, Respironics, etc. If you do some searching on this forum you'll probably see quite a few opinions.

Have you asked the sleep lab for your reports (or you sleep doc)? I didn't think they could refuse to give them to you!

Mindy
