Franken-Aura

Post by Newsgrouper » Sat Jul 02, 2005 11:30 am

I have recently become a bit more desperate to make CPAP work for me. My full face masks have now become too confining for me and I can no longer stand the pressure of my nasal masks over my upper lip.

I pulled from my collection an Aura with the Rested Gal modification. I made the modification some time ago but could not make it comfortable where it touched my forehead. This time I removed the Gel Forehead Spacer from my Respironics Comfort Classic Mask and hot glued it to my Aura. Seems much more comfortable and I enjoyed a nice nap with it. My Aura is now part Aeiomed, part Respironics, and part ResMed (some of the headgear). I really hope this works.

Neat bit of lab-ratting, Newsgrouper!! I like that!

I use a 5 1/2 inch long piece of rubber strap that I cut off the original headgear - sliding the strap horizontally between my forehead and the plastic. Smooth side of the strap against my forehead and nubby side out, so that the pantyhose straps at eyebrow level also keep the rubber strap in place, gripping the nubby side well. Makes a very comfy cushion at that spot under the hard plastic of the exhaust.

You've given yours a nice permanent fix, though! Very good idea! I may paw through my discarded masks drawer today for a "spacer". Thanks for the great tip!
