PillowPal

Post by pjwalman » Sun May 11, 2008 7:29 pm

I am happy to say there is now a link at the end of this thread where you can download the pattern for the PillowPal. I believe it's on Page 4 now.

Peggy

I AM NO LONGER EMAILING OUT THE PILLOWPAL PATTERN. IT'S GOTTEN TO BE TOO MUCH TO KEEP UP WITH. IF A CPAPTALK.COM ADMINISTRATOR CAN FIGURE OUT HOW TO PROVIDE IT AS A COPYRIGHTED DOWNLOAD ON THE FORUM, I AM HAPPY TO TURN THE PATTERN OVER.

For anyone who is having trouble sleeping on their sides with all their gear, I have a pattern I am happy to share. I went through every pillow style in the house, bought a couple more, and still I couldn't get comfortable. I started dinking around and made just a little "pillow pal" to throw on top of my regular pillow, and it has made all the difference in the world for me anyway. Just adds a little height to your pillow, enough to leave some clearance for the mask and hose. It's small enough it could be thrown in a suitcase when taking a trip.

I tuck my shoulder into the large curve, kind of wiggle the "legs" under my chin and forehead where they're comfortable, and I've got enough cushion under my face then to sleep on either side. There's no reason the pattern couldn't be modified when you get it to go straight across at the top or widened at the side edges for those who want a little more under their heads.

Panhandler was kind enough to help me put the pattern into PDF form so I can email it. Sharon has graciously offered to sew them for those not wanting to sew it themselves or those who don't know anybody willing to whip one up for them.

If you would like the pattern or would like me to forward your email on to Sharon so she can make arrangements with you, just PM me your email address. I can't send attachments via PM.

There's no catch here. I just figure anything that can make CPAP life easier should be passed along to our forum friends. This is nothing fancy but just may be the difference needed to help someone stick with it.

Thanks for sharing.

Nice idea, and love the photos!

I do something similar with a butterfly shaped pillow I have, but may have my teenage daughter, who's a wiz at patterns and sewing, whip me up something from your pictures.

The PillowPal seems to be working for some, so I will continue to extend my offer of emailing out the pattern to those who PM me with their email addresses.

Sharon, I hope you're not feeling too overwhelmed with the sewing end of it. You are such a sweetheart to have been willing to take this on!!!! THANK YOU!!!

My sister-in-law just made me a pillowpal, and i must say...I LOVE IT!!! It makes all the difference in the world as I am a side sleeper. No more smashing my pillow down to get it from pushing on my mask!! I have tried the expensive papillow and various memory foam pillows...both the full size version and the neck version...and nothing comes close to this pillow for comfort. Thank you so much, Peggy, for sharing your design and pattern with us!! BTW--my 3 year old niece picked out the material for mine from her mother's stash of material, so I am the proud owner of a Noah's Ark themed pillowpal Every night when I go to sleep, I will think of how proud my precious niece was when she presented me with the material she picked out!

Oh, I am SO thrilled that it worked so well for you!!!!!!!!!!! And bless your heart for passing that along -- I sure was hoping I wasn't wasting people's time with a goofy idea!

I love the picture of you snuggled in soundly on your Noah's Ark PillowPal! Sleep tight!!

You can PM any member by clicking on the PM button at the bottom of a post by them. OR You can just go to you messages and type in the name of the person you want to PM.

this is really great- I use a wedge and a little neck pillow from walgreens but if that ever stops being comfortable I may hit you up for this.

Seems enough people feel positively about this helping them sleep more comfortably that I will "bump" it for the new people on the forum.

My apologies to those that have had to see it pop up over and over again, but I don't know how else to keep it circulating for the new people other than to "bump" it back to the front page.
