Home study auto titration question

Post by bigcat » Tue Apr 08, 2008 4:46 pm

I am using an apap and looking at my data. Average ahi for 4 days is 1.5. My 90 percent is 13 and mean 11. Should my titration for straight cpap be the mean or 90 percent? I was thinking about setting it up to start at my titration level, 11 or 13 and go up to 18.

Thanks

I asked a similar question (at this topic):

and DreamStalker (4th reply down) indicated using 90 as min setting was what he did.

I have been using my RemStar Auto/A-Flex over a week now. I set the min. at my 90% level and the max 5 pts. higher IE 8 & 13. This is working great for me even though I don't see much advantage to having A-Flex at this pressure. My overnight pressure usually stays between 9 and 11 with very low leaks my AI is near 0 and Hi less than 5. Hi is higher using the same settings on my S8 Vantage, but the AI is the same. In your case I would start at 11. Good Luck in your therapy. jim

I believe I would agree with Jim........either 11 or 12.
The 90% can sometimes be deceiving, depending on just what causes the pressure increases. If it's something like snores or leaks, then the information is somewhat flawed. (Snores don't necessarily precede hypopneas or apneas.)

Den

(5) REMstar Autos w/C-Flex & (6) REMstar Pro 2 CPAPs w/C-Flex - Pressure Setting = 14 cm.
"Passover" Humidification - ResMed Ultra Mirage FF - Encore Pro w/Card Reader & MyEncore software - Chiroflow pillow

Thanks for the information. I think I will change it to 11 (bottom number)and see how that works. My ahi are still very low, but I do feel a little tired. Of course some of that is lifestyle
