New DeVilbiss IntelliPAP Auto

Post by Snoredog » Thu Feb 28, 2008 2:27 am

Hey, I see Johnny has the new DeVilbiss auto anyone try it yet?

https://www.cpap.com/cpap-machine/devil ... chine.html

Looks pretty good, small and supposedly quiet and priced right, we need other machines after Resmed & Respironics shoot themselves in the head with their price increases

boy I wouldn't mind trying out that little guy:

Size does matter ... when it comes to the HH reservoir. That one looks like it would run out of water for me in the middle of the night.

I saw that machine recently, too. However, I was trying to look up both the machine and software on the company's website and couldn't find either.

Maybe Johnny can tell us more about it and the software availability.

Good Morning,

We just had our first review come through today on the standard:

https://www.cpap.com/cpap-machine/devil ... ystem.html

None on the auto yet but likely they will start rolling in soon.

The software is due out sometime this summer and will provide efficacy data.

The water chamber on the humidifier holds 400 ml which compares favorably to competitors:

Everest 2 Heater 240 ml
M Series Heater 325 ml
REMstar Heater 400 ml
H3i 385 ml

Keep in mind that water management effectiveness also varies by machine. While having more water in the chamber gives you a head start, there are technologies that allow water usage efficiencies.

I was embarrassed to find that we do not yet include these figures on our compare charts. We will shortly.

Johnny

I used the Intellipap for a couple of weeks and I really liked the machine. Unfortunately, I had to give it back.

The Intellipap is really quiet at 26dB and has a well thought out humidifier that pulls out like a drawer. You can't overfill the chamber. The entire machine is impressive. It doesn't have a c-flex or a-flex style breathing feature but I hardly noticed the lack of it.

This machine is a winner.

Thanks, Ted.

I'll be interested to hear about the software when it comes out.

This DeVilbiss auto doesn't have EPR either does it?

PS - I wish my bedside table ever looked that neat and clean.

It looks impressive, and the manuels are well written.(.PDF's).

The only downside was the lack of providers set-up data, the complete lack of Expire relief.

The fact that software for it is still "Vaporware", and the cost of cables and software and their availability to patients.

If the two Major providers continue to "Shoot their Toes off", reguarding their War against patients needs, This new offering may be a leader.

It's too bad they went the way of Resmed, and didn't come up with fully functional exhale relief. Jim

Wow!
You gotta love a company that has an "Acclimating to your therapy" chapter in its manual. And then gives some of the tips we've been givan and giving on this forum.
Acclimating To Your Therapy
Naturally anything new – including CPAP therapy – takes some getting used to. Having your mouth or nose (or both) covered by a mask may make you feel anxious or claustrophobic. Feeling the rush of air from your IntelliPAP may cause discomfort or concern. But don’t worry – every successful, long-term CPAP user began where you are today with the same reactions and concerns, and overcame them to enjoy the full benefits of their therapy.
Here are some steps to help you gradually ease into your therapy and overcome your anxieties:
1. Try attaching the mask to the CPAP unit, and switching the unit “On.” Practice breathing through the mask for one hour while watching television, reading, or performing some other sitting activity.
2. If you nap, use the CPAP during this time.
3. Use CPAP at least during the first initial 3-4 hours of nighttime sleep.
4. Use CPAP through an entire night of sleep.

Advance through the above steps one step at a time and progress to the next step as soon as you can carry out the current step without anxiety.
Somebody there is thinking of us users - as people.
I wonder if the software will have the same touch.
O.

Yes, I agree. That is why I said it would likely run out of water for me because when I used the Everest it would run out of water unless I used it unheated as passover mode.

Impressive. Worth a closer look anyway. I can live w/o exhale relief.

Given the marketing practices of ResMed, Respironics, and F&P, this may be my next APAP.
