I started on CPAP the beginning of October and I'm beginning to get used to it now. I would just like to thank all the people on this forum for sharing their experiences and support to others, it certainly has helped me. I know the second night with the mask I would have liked to throw it out the window. Now, I'm getting through the whole night, not a huge difference yet in how I feel however, there is subtle difference I'm starting to notice. I saw my cardiologist today (nothing to do with apnea) he told me I looked more rested. And he just found out he has OSA, much to his surprise, he doesn't fit the profile, which I guess a lot of people don't fit the standard profile (including me). So thank you for all the valuable information and if you are new, don't give up, and keep reading this forum.
I've ordered the fleece pad-a-cheeks, looking forward to getting them.
Thank you
Good for you for sticking to it!!!! I'm glad you found us!!! Tell all your friends!
Cheers,
Babette

I currently have a stash of Nasal Aire II cannulas in Small or Extra Small. Please PM me if you would like them. I'm interested in bartering for something strange and wonderful that I don't currently own. Or a Large size NAII cannula.

Good for you, cpapper, for sticking with it!
There's no telling how many serious health problems people have, or how much money will be spent on ICU and other hospitalizations, prescription meds, etc. Or how many people will be killed in drowsy driver accidents. Or how many jobs undiagnosed OSA sufferers will be fired from.
All for lack of a diagnosis of sleep apnea.
And lack of something as simple as room air being pushed a little more directly at them while they sleep.
It's sad the way this root contributor to so many other health problems is misunderstood and never thought of by the medical profession at large. Hardly any PCP's screen for it routinely, I'd imagine.
You'd think cardiologists, pulmonologists, and neurologists would be "up" on OSA by now. But sadly, they don't seem to be.
You know, I really think if the entire U.S. population (and a lot of other countries, too!) were tested for sleep apnea, at least half the population has it. Most will never know, though.cpapper wrote:I saw my cardiologist today (nothing to do with apnea) he told me I looked more rested. Good post. I couldn't agree more. I know people that seem they have.... and they most likely do.
I know when I got my sleep test done... the guy at the sleep center, which in this case, it was in a hospital, he told me he KNEW a girl that work there has it, tired all the time, yawning, ect.... and they couldn't even get her to do a test..... dispite this sleep lab being in the hospital the girl works in.
