Well, you’ll find out about many more things as your treatment will progress. And non of them will be told you by your doctor.

They gave you a CPAP that doesn't capture any data for the software. So the software won't do you any good if you had it. You would need a better machine. Your Doctor and DMe, are happy to pull a number out of their hat, and send you home. Jim

Michele, how long have you had your Resmed S8 Compact? Do you have the integrated Humidaire 3i heated humidier to go with it? You didn't include it in your Profile if you do.

Don't bother mentioning software to your DME supplier nor you sleep doctor. The software is not intended for patients and the DME WON'T supply it to you even w/a script for it and most likely your doctor will NOT support you in your wish for it and may even take offense.

HOWEVER, if you've only had this Compact less than a month or two, the thing to do is call your sleep lab and ask them or your sleep doctor if they are aware that you've been given a compliance data only CPAP and you are upset about that, HOW can your sleep doctor adequately monitor your CPAP therapy, HOW can be possibly make any adjustments that might need to be made w/o the full data from your machine? By guess and by gosh? You expect better treatment than that! Ask that he rewrite your equipment order (script) for the Resmed S8 Elite w/EPR and "mask of patient's choice". And if he didn't order a heated humidifier for you ask that he order that as well. Tell him your nasal passages are extremely irritated from the dry air, if necessary.

Meanwhile, talk to your DME supplier and tell them that you are NOT HAPPY w/the bare-bones, compliance data capable only CPAP they have provided. Give them the same tale as above, ask the same questions as above. Insist that they provide you w/a Resmed S8 Elite w/EPR.

Have you checked w/your insurance company to find out what local DME suppliers they are contracted with? If you have the choice of more than just this current DME supplier you can always suggest that if they won't provide the S8 Elite you will go to a DME supplier who will.

Once you get a Resmed S8 Elite we can help you find the software and reader cable if you still want it. Even w/o the software there is a lot of info available via the LCD screen on the Elite that we can tell you how to access.

The 94th percentile of pressure that night, the 94th percentile leak rate, the AHI, AI and HI that night are available via the S8's LCD screen. Data the S8 Compact is not capable of recording.

Good luck, God bless and a belated welcome to the forum.

Some people are like Slinkies; not really good for anything, but they still bring a smile to your face when you push them down a flight of stairs.
