Bi-Pap machine

Post by angelbaby122157 » Mon Sep 13, 2004 8:10 pm

Bi-Pap - anyone on a bi-pap machine and having sinus problems? My husband has such a bad case of sleep apnea and for days on end can't use the machine because of allergies. Anyone have any ideas?? Thank you.

Sinus Problems

I have a couple of suggestions.

A heated humidifer added in line with the bipap would probably help the most. The heated humidifer helps dry mouth, stuffy, congested, or runny nose, dry, burning, itching, or bleeding nose, and a heated humidifier will either reduce or eliminate these symptoms. Allergies cover most of these symptoms.

You might also ask your physician for a prescription for an allergy medication and or advice on any other possible solutions.

Bi-Pap and breathing probs

Thank you for your reply. He has tried several different allergy meds along with nasal spray. He also has the humidifier attached. It got so bad this week from not being able to use his machine that he collapsed and was unconscious. We've had two bad nights spent in the ambulance and two different emergency rooms. He was having chest pains and difficulty breathing. They said it was not a heart attack and he seems to feel it's related to the sleep apnea. Anyone experience anything similar or have any ideas? Thank you so very much.

Bi-Pap and breathing problems

Sinus problems this severe, and the fainting/passing out, are indicators you need to really be in touch with your physician, or a good Ear, Nose, Throat specialist. Sinus problems and allergies can make it harder to breath clearly, even for people who don't have sleep apnea. Sleep Apnea can make it more difficult to rest and sleep to help the body recover from other medical problems.

Good physician assistance is really needed in your case.
Good Luck.
