I would try the passover mode again - water in, but not turned on - and also remember you've had an especially 'humid' couple of days there that would preclude your machine from being needed (if it normally is).

I love my FF mask.
I switched to FF mask after trying "nasal pillow mask". Nasal Pillow mask did NOT work for me b/c I typically breathe thru my mouth due to mild nasal stuffiness.
I find FF mask comfortable although it took several nights to get used to the added bulk on the face esp when side sleeping.
I am a work in progress with CPAP- AHI too high for me and daytimes fatigue issues persist. I'm working on finding the correct pressure range for my APAP.
My Ent and sleep dr agree that b/c of my nasal allergies (main culprit is dust- and yes I still have carpet in bedroom though im trying to convince my spouse that the expense of changing floor is necessary and will help me))--- the drs agree that I should use 2 squirts of Flonase in ea nostril at bedtime. It is helping. give it about 1.5 weeks of nightly use to see better nasal clearness. also I dab vicks vaporub on inside of my nostrils- helps a lot!!!!!!
the brand of mask is "paykel & ?"- I should know but I don't.

CPAP is a tought subject and over the nearly 3 years of using one I just NOW learning things that are important to learn!!!!!! my Ahi is trending lower so i'm doing something right!!! still a work in progess!!

Good luck to you!!!!

How about going a whole other direction here and trying to find out WHAT is triggering the inflammation and swelling?

Perhaps your best bet is an elimination diet to see if something you are eating is triggering the problem. I'd start with dairy, as nasal congestion is a VERY common complaint of people who are sensitive to dairy. If that doesn't help or doesn't help enough, you might try eliminating other common food triggers and see if it helps at all. Or you might look into an "anti-inflammatory diet" to try to soothe the inflammation you are having. Fish oil, already suggested, might be helpful.

You might also consider environmental factors--dust, mold, chemicals like scents in your cleaning and hygiene products, off-gassing plastics, formaldehyde in furniture, etc.

I'm not saying this will be easy to pin down. But the medications you try and even something as simple as saline rinse can always have rebound effects, and make the problem worse in the long run. Better to treat the cause than the symptoms if you possibly can.

Has anyone tried nasal strips? They really help me and I️ use them every night. Also, has anyone noticed a loss of smell after beginning CPAP therapy?
