My heart is breaking. She was a good friend of mine.
For those of you who didn't know...she had cancer and nothing helped.

I'm sorry to hear that, She and I didn't always get along, but she stood up for what she believed in, and had a good heart.

Saddened to hear that. I almost cleared out my messages but hadn't quite got around to it. Glad I didn't so I can take some time to revisit our conversations in her memory. First time she private messaged me a few years ago was just to say thank you for saying a kind word to someone who was not being received well. She had a heart for those who are the outliers in this CPAP journey - the oft misunderstood and maligned. She herself was an outlier struggling with this treatment, so that was her soft spot. For me her name popping up in old threads will ever be a reminder that we don't know how hard life might be for someone whose posts seem an easy target. A bit of grace could mean a lot. RIP 49er.

My condolences to those of you who were close to 49er and are now mourning.
I only knew her as one of the sensible regulars on the forum.
Her voice will be missed here.

Enshaded in forgetfulness divine

I haven't been on the forum a lot lately for various reasons, but saw this today.

I am so sad. I considered 49er a good, online friend. As someone else said, she and I didn't always see eye to eye, but she was always kind and respectful of my viewpoints.

Her loss will leave a hole in the forum. May she rest in peace.

Vivian was a big Nats fan also. We always had a little "discussion" when the Nats played the Cardinals.
She would put curses on my Cardinals and I would put curses on her Nats.

Such sad news! May she rest in peace, and let her family and friends gain comfort from the memories of their time together.

Thank you.

She was a balancing influence on me when my CPAP-evangelism got a little out of hand. She would not hesitate to PM me when my positive statements about CPAP did not sufficiently take into consideration the feelings of those who gave PAP therapy the full shot but were unable to make it work for them, despite admirable efforts. I will miss that voice of reason and her willingness to speak up to share it.

Most of all I will miss her reflex to 'stand up for the little guy.' She was very interested in new ones being treated with fairness, respect, and dignity. Her unique experiences with diagnoses, medications, and life itself made her very valuable here, in my opinion. She understood the difference between someone's expressing 'negative' reactions and experiences and someone's 'being negative,' as is too-often assumed in an accusing way by others in responses in forums, I think.

I still find this whole forum/board thing a little odd in how much I care about people I've never met face-to-face. I understand the advantages of anonymity and privacy. But there are people on this forum who have died that I would have driven more than a day's drive away to attend their funeral, had I known about it in time. Slinky, for example. It is hard when you don't find out for a while about the death of someone you have cared about for a long time.

49er made a difference in my life. I learned from her. I would like to have known her better. My beliefs are that maybe one day I will. I will take comfort in that.
