Been using CPAP for just over a month, using ResMed AirCurve 10 VAuto.
Started with a full face mask that cut into my nose bridge. Changed over to an Amara View mask which I can tolerate.
My morning results have averaged between 90 to 100% with events between 1 to 4.
My problem is the dry mouth and nose in the morning. I have a heated hose and humidity on “comfort auto”.
Should I go to manual setting and increase my heated hose temperature and humidity level.
Also using Ayr nasal gel for my nose, but still have the dryness.
Does anyone have any advice on reducing the dryness.
Dryness.
Re: Dryness.
You could try more humidity but there's no guarantee it will fix the dry mouth issues.
The humidifiers on these machines were really designed to help with nasal cavity dryness and not the larger oral cavity. They just can't always crank out enough moisture for some people because some people just get dry mouth easier than others.
Auto on the AirCurve machines is 85% I think...You can try going to manual and see if higher numbers (6 ish or more) will help or not.
Won't hurt to try.

We have lots of full face mask users here using maximum humidity and they still have dry mouth.
Sometimes it is medication related and sometimes it just mouth breathing related and sometimes it's just bad luck.
Many of those full face mask users add one of the products designed to help with dry mouth...like the Biotene produces or something similar and they just have to try various products until they find one that works well for them.
Some people even opt for adding more moisture to their whole house air especially in the winter when furnaces or wood heat is used which can dry out the air even more. I don't have the dry mouth so much but man my nose sure gets dry during the winter and I end up using a lot of Simply Saline just for my nose comfort.

Re: Dryness.
I have a full face mask with my apap, I would certainly try going on manual if auto hasn't been helping. My sinuses tend to be fine on a lower setting but my mouth does tend to need it higher, and i still use a product called xylimelts which works well for me, little tablet sit in the mouth and encourage saliva.

i second this for combating mouth dryness, though i find that i have to use two tablets.Diamondminek wrote:I.... and i still use a product called xylimelts which works well for me, little tablet sit in the mouth and encourage saliva.
i don't know what to recommend for the nose. i hope that by playing with the humidity settings, the OP can find relief!
