Gave up on FFM and tried the p10 pillows..

Post by Airwolf » Thu Jan 11, 2018 7:03 am

After another week of waking up every.single.hour I gave up on my full face mask and went with p10 nasal pillows. The difference in my ability to sleep and stay asleep is astounding.

It’s strange though because I barely feel the mask is on. The FFM there was always a sensation of strong pressure at first, with the pillows, I only notice when I turn it off...

Congratulations.
Now you understand why so many of us prefer nasal pillow masks.
When you have time you might want to edit your equipment profile....I assume that the P10 will become your primary mask.

Oh definitely.... I think I need to edit online too... and on sleepyhead?

How should I configure the leak rate, also? I Remeber there was a threshold setting?

At some point next week I’ll probably look at some fine tuning of the settings. I’ve got a base setting of 9 or 9.4 now judged from where I was spending solid time.... after a d S is soon with the real therapist I capped my range at 13 for now. AHI is roughly 4.6 mask leak or not (probably won’t have time to post pix for next week or so) so definitely right direction.

First night tried without chin strap, apparently spent close to two hours with my mouth open. Chin strap on last night not sure till I get home on result. But what a difference overall!

Just make sure to change the type of mask on your machine.
The rest of it there is no need to do anything.
ResMed's threshold is 24 L/min no matter which mask and when you change the mask type on the machine then the machine will make the necessary adjustments (whatever they might be) before you ever get a data report. SleepyHead already defaults to that 24 L/min red line.
The part of the SleepyHead profile where you choose a mask and doctor and all that stuff. That's not necessary and not part of any data calculations.
Name and time zone thing is all I ever do in the profile.

I also love the P10.
If a standard chin strap does not adequately control mouth leaking, you may want to try what I use http://sleepapneasolutionsinc.com/
I line it with a folder sock to keep it clean.
