Hearos and Mack's are two of the better brands.

What do you think about also using a white noise machine? I have friends who use a white noise machine and ear plugs.

You don't say what kind of coal he has, I think most newer coals are pretty silent. I am wondering if you have the lid on tight or something lease is wrong with it.

My DH is still travelling by the way. I will let you all know the update as soon as he returns and we get the chance to examine the machine.

@Chicagogranny, thank you, I will order those earplugs right away. Currently I am using a fan and earplugs but my sleep is still very disturbed.

Which coal are you referring to? And Anthracite as a stone? You got me lost.

Anthracite is coal, the kind you mine and burn for heat.

I didn't start that stuff about coal. But, I was trying to end it. Try to keep up. Or maybe you are like me - you ignore "Guest" posts. That's a good practice.

I expect that "coal" was autocorrect language for "cpap". A little proof reading can help posts make more sense *smile*.

Re: earplugs
I can recommend Ohropax Classic earplugs for noise reduction. They are made of wax so when softened a little will conform to your ear's contours. And they are reusable.

So should I stop putting coal in my ears now?

My wife was the same way when I first stared CPAP as she is a light sleeper. Here's what made it easier for her.
1. I put my ResMed Air Sense 10 (which is considered the quietest machine on the market) on the lowest level of my night stand, which is almost floor level. That in itself makes the noise 80% quieter.
2. She downloaded a free white noise app for her phone. White noise, even at a low level has been used in business offices for years. It makes a huge difference. The human ear hears the soft white noise and disregards the CPAP noise.

Now she sleeps much better, as do I. CPAP has allowed me to sleep all night and no more sleepy day times.

This is interesting, although some of my noise comes from the FF Mask vent. Any particular app you recommend? My partner had a lot of trouble sleeping for various reasons.
