Have you tried soaking in a 25% bleach solution? That is what I used when I sanitized my hose after a very bad bronchitis attack. Use 1 cup of bleach for every three cups of water. fill the hose with the solution and then submerge it in the water. Allow to soak for 20 minutes, and rinse well with clear water. It may retain a faint bleach smell until it dries.

The 2nd-hand equipment I got smelled kinda perfumey, like the scented air "freshener" the woman had plugged into her outlets. I've washed everything thoroughly and that really helped, but the hose still smells very faintly. Has anyone dealt with something similar, or have some thoughts on what might remove the remaining smell (besides replacing the hose ? I washed it with 2 kinds of soap and also rinsed it with alcohol.
I've smelled that perfumy scent a number of times, and I think it's coming from the silicone inside, when a machine has been idle for some time.

Vinegar is often used to neutralize odors but is corrosive on metals.

Just a guess but I'm pretty sure desiderata is talking about the ClimateLineAir™ Heated Tube for AirSense™ 10 and AirCurve™ 10 Machines.
These sell for just under $40 Maybe $38 shipped on Ebay.

Ozium is much more effective, but keep it away from the plastic/metal.
I put it on a cotton ball inside a sealed bag with the ordorous parts.

When I first started CPAP use, I was given a loaner nasal mask that reeked of a combination of heavy perfume and garlic. I did report it to the RT, but she thought I was referring to a plasticky smell from the silicone and said it would go away. I washed the mask every single day with a neutral-smelling dish soap ("sea mineral") and within about 7-10 days the stronger smells had gone. And yes, I persevered with wearing it at night; each day the aroma was less until it was gone. When the RT and I had established that I was compliant, and comfortable with that style headgear and mask, I returned the loaner in exchange for a brand new mask/headgear set to own. I mentioned again about the aroma on the loaner mask, saying that I had cleaned it thoroughly, and she reassured me that they carefully clean loaner items between each user, as per manufacturer instructions, and apologized for my experience; she had misunderstood what I had originally told her. We need to remember that each individual's skin retains perfumes and food odors differently and we can't control that, except to ensure our equipment is as clean and odour-free as possible before passing it on to another user in a loan or a sale. The same goes for the effect of our household air.

Keep cleaning your hose often and as the air from your home passes through it during use, it will take on the smells you are already familiar with there. One more 'pap thing with which to have patience! Or you could just run the blower through the hose during the day for a bit to speed up the process.

Good luck,
Jean

I would just mix 1 or 2 parts of vinegar with distilled in a spray bottle to spray in the hose. But don't forget the blower can also hold some scents. For those who don't like vinegar it not only disinfects but the smell dissipates rather quickly. I have it in a spray bottle to clean windows also.

What type of machine do you have? Are you referring to a Resmed Climate Line hose?

Take the hose off the machine and turn the machine on and take a whiff of the air coming out of the machine.
Let's make sure where the odor is coming from.

Ozium is sold in hardware and sometimes automotive stores. Think detailing an old car.
You want to separate the parts from direct contact with the wet spray,
while allowing the gas to pass by the smelly surface.
Something like a stainless steel tea ball would work.
The ozium dissipates in about 3-4 hours.
