SD card not workingwith Resmed S9

Post by YogaKitty » Tue Jan 10, 2017 5:32 pm

I have a question and hope someone can help. My machine will no longer work if the SD card is plugged in. It's the 1 GB card that came with the cpap. Question is - can I reformat it or something, or do I need a new SD card? It's really hard to find the 1 GB cards now, if it needs replaced, will a different card work?

Thank you so much for all the great information. I have learned so much from this forum over the years.

If you do need a new card, you can use almost any size.....pick the smallest you can find. Lots of 8GB around..some 4gb too.

I would first read the data into Sleepyhead to store it. Then try gently cleaning the gold parts on the card and reformatting it. Also, have you tried unplugging your machine for say 10 minutes and replugging it in? This often clears electronic brain snafu. If that doesn't work, as already mentioned, you can buy any SD card - go for the smallest.

Thanks, yes. I have tried unplugging it and it didn't help matters.

Have you checked to make sure the write protect switch is not set on it? There's a little slider switch on the side of the card. Move it toward the flat (top) end of the card to make sure it's writable.

The protect switch would not stop the computer from working

Well, in the broad sense, yes if I was writing the software in a cpap machine I would report an error to that effect if the card wasn't writable. That doesn't mean they did that when they designed this particular machine. It's quite possible it could just shutdown if the card wasn't writable, particular if the SD card was deemed a critical function. Yeah, it's unlikely, but quite possible.
