Bridge of nose

Post by Hurricane » Tue Dec 26, 2006 7:09 am

Into 3rd nite of switching from Swift nasal pillows to Profile Lite mask, thought transition was going pretty good, then this morning I wake up with a blistered nose bridge.I know its the season for Rudolph All kidding aside it has broken the skin, and sensitive, meaning back to the Swift until it heals. My question to all who have had this problem, what can I do besides loosen the straps, and then get air leakage, is there a lubricant,or something else to protect my nose.??????

Most use a bandaid or bandaid blister strip until they get used to it. A little moleskin on the mask may help.

Hurricaine,

I suffered so much with that that I had to go off the machine for 3 weeks for it to heal. My solution................I bought some Lantiseptic. It's used for bed sores. Available through most Pharmacies without a prescription, but you might have to ask the Pharmacist for it. It not only heals amazingly quick, but offers lubrication at the pressure point to alleviate any problems in the future. PM me if you try it and it works for you. I don't want to keep touting it's merits if it doesn't work for most people.

Hey it fiqures going out New Years Eve and having to explain to the gang what the heck happened to you? I just came back from shopping and bought some chap stick, some antiseptic cream, and using the Swift tonite. I always wondered why the requlars on this forum had so many kinds of masks they were using, kind of like when I went to Ireland and was looking for that bad pint of Guinness, tried most of the pups never found it, but I shall not waiver, I'm now looking for the ellusive perfect mask. Thanks for listening to me babble on.

Using a 1 inch piece of 3m's Nexcare brand paper tape, can be extremely helpful in preventing abrasion. For a pre-existing sore, I would put on some Aquaphor during the day (but remove it at night) it helps heal the nose.

You probably already know this, but when people mention moleskin, it's suggested application would be on the mask and NOT on your nose.

Good luck!

Hey Vader,
Will try finding the Aquaphor, where do I look for 3m Nevcare paper tape, like pharmacy, stationary ? I'm about ready to add onto my medicine cabinet, with all the CPAP needs, Always wondered what sucking air meant.

Aquafor would probably be in hand cream... at the pharmacy

Nexcare paper tape would be in first aid, also at the pharmacy

Pink Tape

Post by Lubman » Wed Dec 27, 2006 9:17 pm

I use "so nicknamed" pink tape. This non latex (medical) tape can be cut in a small length to place across the bridge of the nose, where the mask would otherwise rub directly on skin.

I've mentioned in before in posts - if you can't find it with a search I will post the 800 number and full name. A medical supply store may have it
