"Smoke" smell in my nose...

Post by KimberlyinMN » Sun Feb 11, 2007 6:03 pm

First of all, I love the ComfortLite 2! I'm a side sleeper and this works wonderful for me.

What's weird is that about the same time I started using this, I've been "smelling smoke" during the day when I inhale deeply through my nose. My DH doesn't smell anything. I just don't have any other reason for this. I don't know if it is necessarily actually smelling smoke or perhaps a burning sensation that I would normally feel if I were smelling smoke. (Does that make sense?) It isn't painful, but sort of annoying. I use a humidifier and I also put lanolin in my nostrils when I go to bed. The burning sensation doesn't bother me when I'm wearing the ComfortLite.

Anyone else??

Kimberly......

Funny you should mention it......I'm using the same mask system as you....including lanolin.

I woke up in the middle of the night (a few weeks ago) smelling smoke. I got up to check the house......couldn't smell anything after I got up......couldn't smell anything in the hose when I examined it more closely.....and finally gave up trying to find the source of the "smoke".

I figured I was having a very realistic dream....even though I don't ever remember dreaming "smoke" before.

The whole experience was a mystery that I never solved.

I have found I am more sensitive to smells, wheather they are real or not. In the past 35 years ago, I worked with a lot of car exhaust, I still smell it and like burning plastic, the wife doesn't smell it at all. I think XPAP changes our smeller. Jim

Pegarc,

Since this is an old thread, I hope you see this message.

Respironics says the humidifier should not give off a burning smell when all of the water is gone and should not be used in this situation. You should have your DME send it to Respironics if it is under 2 years.
