Respironics Recall ????

Post by Slinky » Sat Oct 06, 2007 9:35 pm

This post was dated 12 Aug 2007
Respironics Remstar Heated humidifier RECALL
Respironics, the manufacturer of the Respironics REMstar® Heated Humidifier, has received complaints of failures of the AC inlet connector on the REMstar Heated Humidifiers manufactured between December 2001 and April 2003. A small number of these failures have resulted in thermal damage to the humidifier enclosure, and there is a remote possibility that a thermal failure could result in the ignition of materials external to the device. For this reason, Respironics is asking that you remove the humidifier from its power source. You may continue using your CPAP device.

Respironics has decided to take voluntary action to mitigate the risk of failure. This action includes only the model 1005792, U1005792, R1005792, SC1005792, AC1005792, and 1007861.
This voluntary action is classified as a medical device recall, and is being conducted with the knowledge of the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

WHAT TO DO:
Call Stericycle, Inc at 877-574-5038 or 317-275-7667.

I forgot the URL for Recalls so am not totally confident that this is a current Recall but one would think that an ASAA Ex.Dir. wouldn't have posted if it wasn't.

Before getting in a big twit about it I'd suggest that you verify the date of this Recall.

It's old news, but it would be important to check your model number of the HH. If you had one they probably want it back. Jim

You probably won't have to worry about your DME calling you to tell you.

Remove the blower and water tank before turning it upside down to read the number.

Slinky, Thanks for the info... My model # is: 1005792. Funny thing is, my DME gave me this a few months ago when I was testing process of the cpap machine & masks!

He was in a hurry to move it, the heat it was putting off was raising his A/C bill. Jim

Well, call SteriCycle first and be sure yours in involved in the Recall. If it is THEN you can call your DME and complain about the dust in your humidifier!! Good luck.

recall heat humidifier

Post by sneezey822 » Mon Oct 08, 2007 4:05 pm

Interesting. I have been having a problem with my HH. I am new to cpap for about 3 weeks. I do not believe my HH is heating. I called the DME this morning and they have to call me back, because I need to try a different mask too. My number does not match the ones posted.

I just called the head of customer service at Apria...she said she will pass it along to their recall unit. But she never heard of it. I need 3, maybe 4.
Thanks for posting this, my last HH was received about 6 weeks ago.

IF this is 100% legit, someone at Respironics should get fired for still sending out bad units...this doesn't make sense.

Installing Software is like pushing a rope uphill.
I have Encore Pro 1.8.65 but could not find it listed
under software.

I LOVE the SV.

I called STERICYCLE, INC. this morning and they said mine was not on the recall list, he had an accent so it was hard to understand him... I gave him my serial# which is: H2025439 and the model# is: 1005792, he also said something about an extra number and said that my HH was not being recalled, whewwww that's
