Mask Library! got a mask you don't want?

Post by lvehko » Mon Jul 03, 2006 1:29 pm

OK, I'm going to give this a shot. I'd like to start a cpap mask 'lending library' to help people find the right mask to fit them. If you have a mask that you tried out that didn't work for you and would like to donate it, please PM me. Thanks -- Min

If I sent you my five-year-old Adam Circuit, would I get full credit for, say, A UMFF? Are nasal pillow masks worth more than regular ones? Who's responsible for the cleaning?

Minerva, I think this is a wonderful idea for people who are willing to try a used, cleaned mask.

I hope you plan on charging a slight fee to cover the costs of cleaning and shipping the masks to the "renters".

Unfortunately, I don't have one to donate. In fact, I would love to buy a used Aura. Good luck and I hope your library works out.

What a great idea if my new mask works out I might have one for you.

I'll contribute. Should have some extra "parts and pillows" next month that the wife and I won't need.

As you said cleaning should be the responsibility of the recipient.

If you use separate money orders for the deposit & S&H-you can easily return the deposit-and no problems with bounced checks.

Minerva,

Hate to be one to bring up a negative, but MAKE SURE you have a disclaimer that you will not be held responsible for ANYTHING having to do with a person's use of a mask you've lent them, whether it be health related, injury related or otherwise.

I work in the legal field as a court reporter and take depositions of people who sue each other every day. You would be amazed at the audacity some people have to bring such outrageous suits against innocent, unsuspecting good samaritans like yourself who are only trying to do something nice. Would hate to see you take a hit from some devious person who views you as an easy target. And don't ever think for one moment that they aren't out there. Trust me, they are. Just be careful.

Personally, I say it's a great idea. I wish you the best of luck with it.

Minerva,

Great idea and long overdue. As one of the lucky ones whose insurance actually covered (I think...) four different masks in the first month, I'd be happy to donate at least one if not two that I'm not planning to use. Let me get past the point where I'm sure that I'm not liable for return to the DME and then I'll send them to you or directly on to someone (more than one) who needs them.

Oops! Forgot to add my PS to the earlier post:

PS - It would be easy and secure to set up a PayPal account to handle any financial transactions. Personally, I think you should be reimbursed at minimum for whatever the shipping costs are. If things really get going, keeping track of "who has what" could be quite a chore, so you should factor in some additional compensation for time and talent.
