that's to lock you (the patient) out of some features.

remember, that's their menu... so any 'lock' things are cutting off your normal access.

spake pugsy in another post: "When it is in the On position the patient is locked out of making changes and accessing certain features. "

ah, found this: http://www.ablecarehealth.com/Equipment ... Manual.pdf

SYSTEM ONE resistance
This setting allows you to adjust the level of air pressure relief based on the specific Respironics mask.
Each Respironics mask may have a “System One” resistance control setting.
System One resistance compensation can be turned off by choosing the setting “0”.
Note: The patient also has access to this setting, if Lock SYSTEM ONE is off.
• Lock SYSTEM ONE
- This enables you to lock the “System One” resistance control setting if you do not want the
patient to change it.
Note:
If you lock this setting, the patient will see a “lock” icon next to the setting

Love this on the first page of the document..

IMPORTANT! Remove this guide before giving the device to the patient. Only medical professionals should adjust pressure settings.

I'm technically a professional....(driver)...I suppose to the DME that doesn't mean that I'm qualified to operate such "heavy machinery" as an APAP machine, though.

Women are never given enough credit when it comes to power tools, and electricity.
But I noticed shock protection on drills and saws --years before they ever got put on blenders and mixers--WHY?
Toasters? I'm still waiting. (or did I miss that one?)

Well hot damn and hallelujiah!! I just got off the phone with the DME...after explaining to her that my settings changed after our call, and how annoyed I am because those settings didn't work for me...I also told her that I am being proactive with my own therapy, and I changed my setttings. She acted surprised (maybe she is?) that anything got changed...denied that anything was altered, til I INSISTED that I was 100% aware what I changed things to, and what they were swapped back to. She seemed interested that I was able to tell her what my readings have been, the SH software and the fact that I can tell her WHY I changed things. I also told her that as the seasons progress, I may need to change things a bit again. We shall see.
In any case, she said she'd contact the doctor (in NJ) tomorrow and ask for my prescription to be changed to 6-15 instead of 4-20 "permanently", so if somewhere along the line something changes again, it will revert to my 'scrip instead of trying to smother me. I even warned her that I had removed the modem and was considering an alternate way to get info to them.
I also let her know about the "evil" DME, who I got into it with over my discomfort with the original settings, and how she gave me a hard time about changing things up.
Score one for the old truck drivin' chick.

Hey, man...if YOU weren't paying attention, why should I?
I think you need another signature line...
"Chaos, panic, disorder...my work here is done." Seems fitting.

what kind of a gentleman would I be to refuse a lady???

last time I was in a big rig was ... oh, in a former life, ahead of 5500 gallons of milk on it's way to becoming ice cream.

the guy I was riding with had, at that time, over 1,000,000 accident free miles under his wheels.... had a warning on the back of the trailer "CAUTION! I DRIVE LIKE YOU DO! CAUTION!"

I swear that mack didn't have *any* suspension on it... 'course he had an air ride seat, but I felt like I'd been in a paint shaker

I haven't been into that particular software system, but I've seen some of them.

It's entirely possible that someone using that system the way it's "supposed" to be could accidentally set it to automatically reset your pressure settings, either one time, or every time the modem makes contact.

There are a lot of confusing and poorly described settings. The mindset of the manufacturers and the rest of the medical mafia is that no user would every want to change their own settings, so let's automatically reset the settings every time we "touch" it because the only way the pressure would change is if some sort of malfunction happened.

Of course, malice is possible, but "never attribute to malice that which is adequately explained by stupidity."

This must be an American thing as I have not heard of it happening up here in Canada but Id be really angry. I agree with RobySue that this will only get worse and not better.

Someone needs to set up a proper group that pay dues, perhaps $20 per year, and fight the groups on this. It would be hard to accomplish but entirely possible if done correctly, although i assume you'd be fighting your HMOs I think you call them? Cant recall the titles Americans use for it.

In any event I see someone here saying its done through cell technology. Fine, what if all newbies lie and say they do not have a cell phone OR a land line. Does that mean they would not be able to get a machine or would they have to work with you to get your compliance report by hand, or some other method?

Thats appalling.

ut in hockey it took them 100 years to realize their heads as well as the crown jewels need to be protected.
LMAO Priceless! So true
