Check your billing. You (your insurance company) probably paid around $350 for the modem, for no apparent reason.

If you complain, they will claim it's for monitoring efficacy and being able to change the settings if your doctor changes the prescription, but my guess is that it was really to charge you an extra $350. PLUS, if and when they ever used it to "monitor efficacy" they could add a charge for that, too.

Fortunately, Apria wasn't notified of any changes to my prescription. When I went in to the doc and told them that I was swallowing a lot of air, the doc switched me from cpap to apap with a pressure range from 5-15 (my stand alone pressure was 12). The doctor handed *me* the prescription, telling me to take it to Apria for them to change it. I did no such thing. I came home, came here and elsewhere, and learned how to change it myself. LOL! I wasn't waiting for Apria to have time in their busy schedules to fix this for me, I wanted it fixed that very night. So I did it.

As for charging me anything in the future for "monitoring", it won't happen because I'm canceling that debit card. They can try, but that's all they can do. I will be notifying them in writing that I will not longer be in need of their services.
