Keep after it. Many new ASV users find themselves "fighting" with the machine over when they should breathe. There are some parameters that can be adjusted to find what's right for you. For many people, eventually the brain gives up fighting with the ASV machine, and you make peace and live happily ever after.

Curious about those with COMPLEX Sleep Apnea

Are any of you with Complex Sleep Apnea overweight?
Or, better yet, are any of you with this of regular weight?

I don't mean to insult anyone. Please understand that is not my intention.
I am just curious to know why the connection to heart problems, is this weight related?

I understand that rumour has it that those with sleep apnea are overweight and in many cases that might be true but most people become some what heavier in mid life so naturally the numbers of overweight middle aged Apnea Sufferers will be greater.
That goes without saying, so we all clearly understand that there are also thin regular weight people with it but as a numbers game, the overweight ones will be greater in number.

So, understanding that, can anyone tell me that they have this Complex Sleep Apnea but are of average weight or even underweight by a bit? Or is everyone overweight? That alone can lead to heart problems, hence why i ask.........is there most definitely a correlation between the two or not?

Thanks

Being overweight almost certainly does increase the risk of OSA (Obstructive Sleep Apnea). The "myth" part of obesity and OSA is that even the medical community is beginning to realize that lots of thin people have OSA and that weight loss doesn't cure a lot of the overweight apneacs.

I haven't heard about any correlation of CSA and weight, but I do know there are thin CSA patients, especially if we're talking CPAP induced CSA. It wouldn't surprise me if obesity does increase the incidence of CSA.

There is a "hypoventilation" syndrome which is strongly leaked to obesity in many people. That often requires a special type of CPAP machine such as an AVAPS machine.

There are some specific heart conditions that will cause some forms of CSA, but many CSA patients do not have these heart conditions at all.

I am one of those skinny people with OSA that turned out to be complex when treated with PAP. 6'1" and 153 pounds - 10% body fat.
