New Kid in Town
Good morning everybody
Six months ago I consulted a surgeon for my hernia. Since I am overweight he hospitalized me for a week for observation. Then I was instructed to take a series of tests that brought up more tests to be taken.
One of them was a sleep study. It showed AHI 35 with 10 to 45 secs duration with avg of 19 secs amongst heaps of other data that I leave to the specialists.
I did not like the idea of breathing through the machine at the least. Asked a friendly doctor that I trust implicitly for a second opinion and was told that I’d better get tubed than have a stroke.
So here I am fresh as anything with questions questions questions. Let time pass and see how it goes.
Must take the opportunity to apologize for any syntax grammar or spelling errors since English is not my native tongue.
Be seeing You

Feel free to ask any questions you have as people definitely want to help on this board. And your English is fine so don't worry about that.

Re: New Kid in Town
Thanks for the welcome.
It's too early to have a picture yet, must collect at least a month's data to be able to make some conclusions.
Still i faced a small problem with "SleepyHead" printouts.
Here is screenshot
and below it the printout
Far right last column missing,
what am I doing wrong
not that I need it now, just in order to have a neat printout.

Welcome to the forum.
Which version of SleepyHead are you using? Some of the latest testing versions don't have full working features just yet.
Wonder if that is what is going on with the report printouts?

You may need to reduce your font size, as the boxes fail to scale with the text.
I could be wrong, but I'd try that.

Re: New Kid in Town
Thanks a lot for tips.
Ooooffff font size did not work at all, it did not work on screen either.
Version is 0.9.5 testing.
Mind you this is insignificant in comparison to what SleepyHead does.
I can bear with it easily till someone fixes it thank you very much.
Have a nice day.

Re: New Kid in Town
Print report feature sometimes has been problematic no matter which version.
When it fails you can always just do a screen shot and save as jpg and print the image.
There should be a new 0.9.6 version available with an installer very soon with more features fully activated.

Re: New Kid in Town
Just from looking at your summaries, it appears that you have not been using your machine adequately. To be effective, you really have to wear your mask all night, every night. It looks like in your first three days you averaged only about one hour per night. I strongly encourage you to bite the bullet and keep that mask on all night. Then you can start to get an idea of how effective it will be for you.

Oooopss, damn right you are, I am still at the starting line.
By the way I am not showing summaries there, God forbid, I am only trying to get the printouts correctly.
Have done the Sleep study and I am aware that it is not a mask anymore but the extension of my nose...
presently just testing machine mask software etc etc
Thank you for putting me back on course, thank you..

Re: New Kid in Town
Update...
Doing fine with my new toy...
Especially with last night's encouraging result
but in pursuing my main concern (as I have thought) treatment for my hernia, took some more tests,
One of them a thoracic aorta CTA showed my heart to be in top notch state but a small shadow asked for further investigation,
so a PET-CT (quite expensive test) was taken last month and the results are....
Yes dear readers, Lung Cancer.
Surgery is arranged for August 10th.
Apologies for getting you into this, needed to get it off my chest.
au revoir

Bummer about the bad news....I can't do anything but send you a big trans Atlantic super cyber hug...so it's on its way right now out in cyberspace.
Your reports are looking better though.
Will say a little prayer that the tumors are of the kind that are more easily managed successfully.

Re: New Kid in Town
I am very sorry to hear you have to deal with this. Life is just damn shitty some times!
I used to volunteer with woman who had been newly diagnosed with breast cancer but i am not overly familiar with lung cancer but my understanding IF correct is that if you are being booked in for surgery you have a great fighting chance...
Tumours of this kind are much easier to deal with today than even 10 years ago.
If you would like to chat or just rant and get anything off your chest, feel free to PM me here and I can send you my email address....
Unfortunately any form of cancer can be isolating as there are too many people that don't know what to say to someone and rather than help, they disappear.
I hope you have a great support system?
Remember, just like CPAP, you want to be your own best advocate.............Research everything you can!
Sometimes, is is easier I understand to speak with strangers or acquaintances, rather than loved ones. You are able to say what you want to say but feel you can't say when speaking with family members. I would also suggest you look up a forum for people going though what you are perhaps in Greece being your first language...........you will hear about the latest trials, drug combinations that work, and so on.......and you will have people that understand exactly what you are going though....
For now, you have a lot on your plate but please don't forget your CPAP'ing as you want to be as healthy and as strong as can be. I imagine that the hospital has told you to bring in your machine for your operation that day?
