Nan I know you mean well, but I think that's a bit much to put on Dori! Unfair. And certainly unknown.
It's been a well known fact among family and friends for several years that with all Mike's medical issues it's been my advocacy(obsession) that has kept him going this long and I'm still not giving up until I know for sure that's what he wants. But I have to admit that with each setback my resolve is getting weaker by the day. Thank you all for sticking with me through this long ordeal. It means a lot to me.

Dori,

Your advocacy (obsession) is to be commended. This is love in its purest form & sometimes love does conqueror all. Hang in there & keep taking care of yourself too.

Lots of prayers & hugs being sent your way.

Jen

Dori,

My heart goes out to you. And my eyes get a little wet when I read this thread. But a lot of that is because I feel I'm reading a love story for the ages created by your actions and intentions and thoughts that you continue to do us the honor of sharing with us. I hope you truly feel the respect and love sent your way from people who feel a little frustrated that we haven't had the privilege of meeting you in person yet.

I hope you are able to treasure every little thing that you are able to do for him without concentrating on those human limitations of what any of us are able to do for each other in difficult times. I am sure that what Mike wants most right now is for you, the love of his life, to be taking good care of yourself--eating, hydrating, resting, sleeping to the best of your ability. Of course he understands that there are limitations to what you can do, no matter how much he continues to enjoy and appreciate it when you can be there. It isn't a matter of giving up or not giving up; it's about feeling good about doing what you can without overdoing. For Mike's sake. For your sake. For our sake.

Dori, these decisions are far beyond our control.
Ours is to do what we think is right, to the best of our abilities.
You know you have done what you thought was right,
to the best of your abilities.
After that, it is by the will and grace of God what happens.

Watching your family make the transition from this physical world
into the light of the Universe is brutal.
I tried w/all my being to stop it and could not.
No one can.

I live today in the peace that I did.....
everything I could....to the best of my abilities.
It is my path to walk....I do so w/no regrets.
I know in my heart...you will, too.
Prayers for strength, guidance and peace.
I'll see you on the road.

That's what being human is all about. Here's some of King Solomon's wisdom:

To everything there is a season, a time for every purpose under heaven. – Ecclesiastes 3:1 NKJV

Also amplifying that idea, a popular pop band of the sixties, The Byrds. Written by Pete Seegar. Anybody who wants to listen to this moving song, one of the best pop songs ever written can do so here. My wife's church plays it quite often:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W4ga_M5Zdn4

Lyrics: Turn! Turn! Turn! The Byrds.
To everything, turn, turn, turn.
There is a season, turn, turn, turn.
And a time to every purpose under heaven.
A time to be born, a time to die.
A time to plant, a time to reap.
A time to kill, a time to heal.
A time to laugh, a time to weep.

To everything, turn, turn, turn.
There is a season, turn, turn, turn.
And a time to every purpose under heaven.
A time to build up, a time to break down.
A time to dance, a time to mourn.
A time to cast away stones.
A time to gather stones together.

To everything, turn, turn, turn.
There is a season, turn, turn, turn.
And a time to every purpose under heaven.
A time of love, a time of hate.
A time of war, a time of peace.
A time you may embrace.
A time to refrain from embracing.

To everything, turn, turn, turn.
There is a season, turn, turn, turn.
And a time to every purpose under heaven.
A time to gain, a time to lose.
A time to rend, a time to sow.
A time for love, a time for hate.
A time for peace, I swear it's not too late.

I like my ResMed AirFit F10 FFM - reasonably low leaks for my ASV therapy. I'm currently using a PR S1 AutoSV 960P Advanced. I also keep a ResMed S9 Adapt as backup. I use a heated Hibernite hose. Still rockin' with Win 7 by using GWX to stop Win 10.

Dori,

The love that you show and the love that you share is amazing. I want to reflect that warm feeling of caring and concern back to you and Mike during your journey. Please know that you are in my prayers and will be along the way.
Take care of yourself,

With Love.
Karen

Dori, so sorry to read that you're still dealing with this, weeks later. I haven't been around and so haven't caught up on the thread yet, but you and Mike are still in my thoughts. I'm dealing with pneumonia, myself, right now, and wishing you both the best. I know too well how hard it is.
