Head Cold: AHI Skyrocketed

Post by DavidCarolina » Wed Mar 05, 2014 6:32 pm

Don't get sick much, but nasty head cold last night. No way to unstuff it, and too late to run out for Theraflu.

Stuck my full face on and woke up 2 hours later gasping a bit.

Immediate check on the bilevel: "5" so far.

Cold was abating a bit, and returned to sleep, and woke up with 3.5.

I average 1.5

My AHI goes up a bit during a cold, I average about 1 and during a cold I have seen as high as 2.5. In fact, my first warning that I am fighting a cold is an elevated AHI and being tired. Makes sense as our organs will swell when sick.

My AHI averages about 1.2 over the last year -- had one cold while on a trip and my worst night with the congestion I was surprised to see an AHI of 38 the next morning when I checked my machine. Quite a difference I'd say.

Next time i'll do the Theraflu. Not worth the hassle.
