When the sleep lab took their sweet time about getting the report back to my referring physician (about 3-1/2 weeks), I "invested" the time doing my research on "what equipment, (which mask, APAP vs CPAP, what's this C-flex thing? card reader? etc). Mostly online. And mostly by reading threads on this forum.

When the sleep lab scheduled my follow-up appointment to "consider equipment options" THREE BLOODY MONTHS down the road, (November, looking at February!), I decided, time to shop for another DME. There are several in my town. By then I was determined to get APAP with C-flex and data option, card reader, software, from the start. That is not to say the DME didn't play the usual games, ordered the wrong equipment 3 times (oh dear! it's a 2-yr old straight CPAP with low mileage, sign here). Several days and several "honest mistakes" *cough* later I had exactly what I wanted, and no regrets for being (persistent/obstinate/stubborn/obnoxious). I'm glad I got the APAP right from the beginning. The straight CPAP at a setting of 7 (according to my titration) would have been a complete waste of time. The APAP puts me at a "true" 9 or 10 most of the time. A setting of 7 would have dealt with only about 30 of all OA/HI events.

ok, there's my APAP story. thanks for listening.

He who dies with the most masks wins.

The poll is incorrect! I traded machines, and I can't change my poll answer.

Same here. Was using a CPAP, now using BiPAP-Auto.

Wait a minute, was this poll implemented by a DME? .

--So I was sitting around the septic tank with my cousins,
sipping through our 9 foot straws and braiding each other's armpit hair;
and suddenly, I had an urge to vote for something non-political.

I'm wondering why old threads that are of no help are brought to the top? I could understand if they contained information that would be helpful all these years later, but I doubt these fall into that category.

Don't answer them - just let them go into the archives. What you're reading (from X yrs ago) may be a result of someone else leaving spam (today) on the thread and another person's deleting it (as it should be), and it should then be left alone to go back to the archives. You're prolonging that by having responded. You have my permission to delete this note if you also delete your own, then the thread will go away.

It's a poll.....any time someone finds a poll and votes...the poll becomes current.

But there's no indication of a new vote, just a confused note by a newbie who didn't understand that wknds have become 'resurrect old polls' time by scammers, spammers, etc. that have nothing new to add, and someone has to let them know. It's possible that spam, etc. posted earlier today was already deleted by a member, WWII didn't see it and wondered what happened.
