distilled water on plane

What is the latest on taking distilled water on the airplance. This is the first time I am traveling with my humidifier and am flying to Florida. All the posts were about 5 years ago. Help.

It will be easier to just buy some when you get there; Florida is fairly civilized, I hear.

If you mean to use on an extended flight, you're still limited to 3oz containers.

If you mean for use upon reaching destination, it's probably easier to buy when you arrive...

Be sure to empty the humidifier before packing it.

If you plan to pap in flight, most make you do it dry.

3 ounces of liquid won't do much for your humidifier.....

But at least they again allow pen knives, so you can bring one and just keep poking yourself to stay awake.

Enjoy the flight, have a nice drink, and probably best to just leave a mess of cpap gear stowed in your luggage. Not worth the hassle and the spectacle.

I've taken about a quart. You have to declare it. I used a papflask. Just print out a copy of TSA guidelines regarding medical fluids.

We just used left over bottled water we'd bought once we cleared security. Figured that had to be better than tap water.

Neither power supplied to your seat on the airplane (see seatguru.com) nor a carry-on battery which complies with the limitations on the airline transport of batteries is likely to have enough juice to run your humidifier inflight.

2nd vote for Papflask. I've taken it on a few flights with no questions asked.

I use bottled water on a trip.
Fill your humidifier each night and empty it in the morning. When you get home give it a good cleaning.
I have had no mineral buildup during a number of 2 week trips.

I'd suggest just using the CPAP not the humidifier on the plane.

If I can't get distilled water easily at my destination, I do this and then run distilled water for a couple of nights every so often and then empty out of my travel unit along with give the reservoir a good cleaning from time to time. As for traveling with CPAP, you're allowed to carry on as an extra bag since it's a medical device. I would never check it in my luggage (remember the old suitcase ad with the gorilla?).

I have been on PAP for @ 18 years and do not use a humidifier.

Don't think many need them either.
