Slarty, you are so wise. I agree that Grumpy may need to see the doc again.

Every post I put up everyone says I'm doing great but I'm so much tired than I was before starting and my wife says that I'm more out of it than before. I think this will be my last night since I haven't seen the great benefit from therapy. I had hoped for a better outcome. She can't anymore of the grumpiness
Are you monitoring your therapy with software?
What are your leakage numbers like? Could you be leaking therapy air out your mouth? (Your profile shows a nasal mask.)
Too much leakage can nullify your therapy and make the "numbers" (AHI, etc.) meaningless.

Time to go see the Doc. I wonder if we took a poll ??? Bet you know the answer to that. It could be a combination of things causing your symptoms. Would quitting pap add or subtract from the possible list? Just thinking....

Everyone must remember that cpap treatment does not make you sleep well. It only allows you to sleep well. Other conditions must be treated as well.

Don't sweat it. There are often people who come on here basically saying CPAP's for the birds and they give it a half hearted try and bail at the first opportunity. But that's not you. You've stuck with it. Your numbers prove that it's not the apnea. So stay with it, but look further for your explanation. Could be low thyroid, low testosterone, one of those poorly understood malidies like fibromyalgia, or something else. The important thing is not to be passive about it. Get back to your doc and say, "this isn't it. What's next?" And if your doc puts you off with some platitude, then find one who will listen. There are a lot of people like you who give CPAP a try and find to their dismay that that wasn't "it," whatever "it" was.

Keep looking for an answer. Make your doc' earn that new Mercedes.

The truth is out there. [Cue in the theme from The X-Files]
I have Hashimotos Thyroiditis which is autoimmune hypo, have had it for20 yrs. Fibromyalgia dx'd in 2006 but certainly had it a lot longer. I've seen forums and read books that have told me that if my hypothyroidism was treated this way or that that fibromyalgia symptoms would go away. I have read books and been on forums that said that fibro was not real but rather a symptom of things like thydoid disease or sleep disorders. I have read that people with fibro have messed up sleep cycles Anderson that is the cause. I have tried CPAP twice before but didn't stick with it. I was told by many drs. That sleep apneaa was the pdoblem. It was pushed and pushed and that made me feel like I had no other options. Last year I lost 50 lbs. That didn't help. So I had another sleep study at the urging of my PCP. So it is categorized as mild on the cusp of moderate with an ahi of 14.
I have been tolerating if pretty well. 7+ hours per night for 3 months. Finally got a good mask & ahi consistently 1 or below. At worst seen 1.8 in past month. Drs. Don' t know what to do with me and they really don't seem to care. Their job is done. I comply & have an excellent AHI. I'm sick of doctors and have spent so much time at diiferent specialists it's ridiculous and at my wits end. I've taken so many vitamins & supplements trying to feel better. I don't know what else I can do. I just want to give up sometimes.

Well said. CPAP therapy may lay the foundation for decent sleep (keeping the O2 up, and not waking up often due to gasping for breath) but now perhaps there are other things that need attention.

Are you sleeping all the way through the night or do you wake up from leaks and irritation ?

You can give up if you want but don't stop looking into other treatments.

Good Luck!
Do you think it's because the wakes us up from deep sleep sometimes? I've thought maybe....

Have you used a Digital Finger Pulse Oximeter to see what your oxygen levels are doing during the night. If it's dropping lower than it should be. Maybe you need supplemental oxygen at night while you sleep. Just a thought.

I could have written Snorkelpuss' post--I could have put it in a yellow box if I were more clever-- but ,hey

I'm newish; I am a retired hospice nurse and have been with a lot of families as they said forever good-by--; I'm planning on staying (on BiPAP) 'til I'm oldish-- don't care if my husband thinks I'm grumpy or not-- he's grumpy sometimes. Be peaceful.

I didn't know one member could delete someone else's post. How do I do that?

You reported my post as spam just because you didn't like what I said? LSAT are you a moderator? What forum rule did I break?

I'm not going to defend what I said because I don't feel like I have to. It was my opinion. BTW all we have is our opinion on this forum.

This has happened to my posts both in the near present and past and is rather disturbing. I can definitely relate to what you're feeling.
