OT: Hostess Brands Liquidating

Waaaggggghhhh! *sob* Hostess, maker of Twinkies, Ho Hos and Chocolate Cupcakes, etc. is liquidating, going bankrupt, selling off its delicious, QUALITY bakery products. In our area that means we will be stuck w/waxy chocolate, greasy fillings, inferior, Little Debbies products. *sigh*

I found recipes for home made versions for many of these treats online.

Don't give up hope on someone else using the equipment to replicate the products using the same recipes . . .

Thanks, jnk, but in this day and age I don't see any company who buys one or more of the Hostess "brands" maintaining the QUALITY for any length of time before starting to cut corners. *sigh*

Never liked Hostess junk anyway, even as a kid. Not gonna miss it at all. Now the "good" stuff in a real bakery... that's another story.

Yes I have to walk into an artisanat bakery every week and NOT buy the wonderful, delicious, all natural pastries they make. Hostess stuff leaves me cold, real Black forest cake, almond tarts, cream puffs on the other hand....

Oh dear, this development could bring the California State Fair to its knees -- one of its major attractions every year is the DEEP FRIED TWINKIES. Not kiddidng. It's the diabetes/heart attack on a plate special (actually I don't think you get a plate, it might even be on a stick -- never actually had one).

We will all learn to love again, hang tight everyone.

At the Whole Earth Vitamin Bar
Just sucking on my plain white yogurt

With a carrot stick for dessert
And wiping my face in a natural way
On the sleeve of my peasant shirt

Maybe, maybe not? I do not know enough specifics about the Hostess situation.

Sometimes its greedy unions,
.............sometimes its more about greedy big business and
............................sometimes its BOTH.

I love those ding dongs, swiss rolls etc but like another poster said, my endo/doc would have a heart attack if he caught me partaking of said goods, UNLESS I was treating a hypo!

So much of consumer goods have been reduced in QUALITY its a pity. Edy'S once my mainstay for ice cream is now on my AVOID list. My fav flavor got not only down sized but the quality went out the window at the same time. I KNOW because I had to buy one package of the new down sized product. I weight my servings (to dose my insulin) and not enough at the bottom of my open package to make one serving. I put some from the new smaller carton on top to make my serving.

When I bit into that new crap on top it was like eating GLUE instead of real Ice Cream. I hit the garbage can, compared carton (labels). They LOOKED the same but yet no. NO! NO! my fav ice cream was no more, it became "frozen dairy desert" instead. RIP Double fudge brownie. (Edy's can do likewise).
