Most insurances (if not all), including Medicare do NOT differentiate between the 2. They pay (reimburse) the same no matter which one you get.

That is why the DMEs try to give you those Generic filters.
They buy them in bulk for far less & then they get reimbursed the same amount.

Just insist that you want the brand name hypoallergenic filters.
If they won't supply them with you, find someone who will.

I am presently using a local DME who sells primarily Respironics stuff.
They refused to get me the ResMed S9 AutoSet I now own because their price from ResMed is quite high because they do almost no business with ResMed.

But, even they are willing to provide me with the ResMed brand Hypoallergenic filters & every other ResMed supplies I require (mask, cushions, heated hose, dishwasher safe water tank, etc.)
