Has no Insurance, Needs Machine!!!

Post by Needshelp » Thu Jun 14, 2012 9:08 pm

I'm asking you to help save a life. A friend has severe OSA: has his sleep report. Iowa Care paid for two sleep labs but refuses to spend one penny on equipment!

I can give him a hose and Opus 360 head gear. Please respond here if you can donate (or sell for a low sum) a CPAP machine with humidifier (low hours if possible).

Please help a family man, who can only get part time work, improve his health and situation.
Thank you very much.

Call these people - http://www.secondwindcpap.com/Used_CPAP.html

They can help you pick out something about $100 - $150.

Friend of ours found a working machine at a garage sale for $3.
He's using for travel.--but check yard sales too.
(Pay cash in case somebody doesn't realize it's a rental)

May I ask why Iowa Care paid for two sleep studies but is refusing to help buy the equipment?

I know when you are talking government programs they are stupid rules, but seems dumb to pay for sleep studies then refuse to pay for treatment.

Yes Sleepycarol, It does sound dumb and stupid. But that's what my friend said he was told. I'll check with him this coming week. I don't know how hard he's pushed his Dr on this point, or pushed the Iowa Care people. But I do know he is so tired of feeling ill and tired. Hoped to find some help for him here. And I will bring it up here from time to time in so it can stay near the top of the pile.
Thanks for asking...Cindy

Check Craigslist for Birmingham AL, there are several there this week. Maybe you could pay extra for shipping and ask for Insurance on the shipping worth usual price. Good Luck!!! I hope he finds one soon. Also have him check with the pulmonologists (lung Drs and sleep specialists in his city to see if any of them know of any CPAPs not currently being used. Sometimes people donate CPAP from a deceased loved one to a Dr or sleep center hoping to help someone who needs one and has no insurance or funds. Also check Thrift shops.
