Squeak, squeak, squeak. . .

Post by ThirdOutOfFive » Fri Feb 24, 2012 11:16 am

My 6 month old machine just started making tiny squeaking noises. I know it's the machine because I can hear the squeaks winding down when I turn off the machine. Hubby says he doesn't hear it, but I do. It sounds like I have an over-active cricket in my brain. NOT helpful getting to sleep.

Has anyone else had this problem? Should I call my DME and ask for a new machine? (If I do this, I will insist on a full efficacy machine this time. Was too shocked by the dx before.)

Thanks.

Bring it in and get it evaluated. It should not be making strange noises.
You probably hear it because the sound is transmitted by the hose more then the air.

Rhythmic squeak usually indicates a bearing is having problems. The blower part has a fan so it could seize up. Traditionally that would happen on Friday night of a long weekend.

YUP, you're right about the weekend part, and probably the bearing as well. Those infamous weekend failures (Air Conditioning, kitchen appliances, etc, etc) are why many of us own backups. I hear some folk have mulltiple layers of backups.

Black Spinner -- you are so right about everything.

Chunky Frog -- I let the mouse out & he's taken up residence in the kitchen. Thanks a lot!

HardMask -- does the family cabin in the country count as backup?
