Unless you dump it out and rinse often, most municipal tap water will deposit white scale on the inside of your tank and slime will grow in the tank. This may actually do no harm, but I don't want it in my tank.Hose Head by Night wrote:I used distilled water in my humidifier but wonder if municipal tap water would be just as good and safe.
Fill a mason jar with water, sit it out and let all the water evaporate. Or boil a microwave safe glass container of water away in the microwave. Fill and repeat a time or two. Get grossed out at what you see in the bottom of the glass.
With distilled water, the tank stays a lot cleaner with a lot less effort on your part.

does anyone know where to get distilled water in a glass container/bottle?
