Itchy nose

Post by snoringshrink » Mon Jan 09, 2012 2:06 pm

I'm enjoying my Quattro FX mask. For the most part my numbers are very good. The only problem is that I wake up two or three times a night with a very itchy nose. Any ideas on how to stop this?

Where does it itch? Inside? Outside? Just where the mask touches? If it itches inside, consider the humidity level and whether or not it is dry or irritated inside. If dry try Ayr gel both on the outside and inside of the nostrils. If it is dry outside, try a non-petroleum based moisturizer or lansinoh (pure lanolin). If it is itchy and irritated outside, you could try some hydrocortisone. If it's itchy where the mask touches, you might be dealing with a contact allergy, and could look into a mask liner to protect the skin from the mask.

Hope you find something that works for you.

I am assuming you mean on the outside surface of your nose because I too occasionally have
the same issue with the Quattro FFM.

I found giving my face a rub all over with my hand before installing the mask cut down on these
incidents significantly. Using a towel will not work because any particles from the towel may remain
adhered to your face.

My theory is that small particles remain attached to the face and what with the airflow they irritate
to the point that area becomes itchy.

I also get itchy. It seems like once I get comfy my nose itches. I'll try the face rub tonight.

I don't like doing that when I've got a good seal because then I can never seem to get it back again.
