Cannot post or draft

Post by Julie » Sat Oct 15, 2011 12:57 pm

Hi - I wonder if someone can help me please...

I've been trying to send PM's and compose Drafts all day (on my Mac using the latest version of Safari) but keep getting Forbidden messages and have not been able to contact Carolyn.

It's important to me that I be able to use the system and if someone could either PM Carolyn about my problem, and/or tell me anything you know that would help, I'd be extremely grateful.... don't like being shut out like this!

Thanks to all ... Julie

It's a system problem.

From what I am able to figure out, you are limited to 3 lines of text before problems arise. You can still quote and post links, provided that you don't go beyond the 3 lines of text limit.

Try clearing all your cookies. Many times when web servers switch hardware cookies are impacted.

Clearing cookies won't necessarily solve it. If you want to post, make sure you keep it short and save a copy of it to a word processor or notepad before trying to post it. That way, if it doesn't go through, you still have it try again later. Learned this one the hard way today. I'm sure they'll fix it soon.

Hi - I think it just needs to run its course - I was able to do a PM (at least get it accepted in the Outbox) but came back for an edit and now can't 'submit' again... will try later... just a nuisance I guess til they've got it all fixed.

Don't complain about updates breaking things. I used to be on another web site that was afraid to do updates for fear of breaking things. The site would get more and more decrepit and broken until it crashed, and they HAD to fix it. It would usually lose posts in the crash. It also got hacked to deliver viruses, too.

By the way, it's not 3 lines. Sometimes you can make a long post, sometimes you can't. I haven't figured out exactly what the line between OK and bad is.

I tested the limit and it is 105 characters. I thought it was because I am a newbie.

I posted the limit as a new topic and it was deleted within minutes.

This is a test to see if I can reply.
