death of member

Post by Nord » Tue Aug 02, 2011 7:30 am

My husband was dealing with sleep apnea for some time. It was an extremely difficult issue to deal with. Although he was using the machine (and had tried several before he finally found a mask and machine that seemed to work reasonably well) it did not completely solve his health issues. He was always extremely tired and couldn't seem to get the energy to do the things that he needed to be done. On July 26, 2011 he passed away from a massive heart attack. It was extremely sudden and came with no warning. He had been to the Doctor about 3 weeks ago for a checkup and blood work. He was managing his high blood pressure reasonably well and definitely worked with the doctor to kept it at normal levels. This site was one that he came to often in the first while after he was diagnosed. I truly wish that somebody in the medical community would do some decent research into this and come up with some better methods of treatment. Maybe it takes some sort of Celebrity to front this cause. Gord was only 62 and we had many plans for the future. He leaves behind a loving wife, 2 sons, a daughter and 3 grandchildren. He was truly a wonderful person and words cannot express how much we will miss him. Thanks to all of you who answered his questions on this site.

So sorry to hear about your loss.....I lost mine suddenly too, he was aslo age 62. It will take you and your family time to really adjust to life without a dear hubby. It still does a number on our granddaughter as they were best buddies, you didn't see one without the other. Take care and remember the good times, they will get you through bad times.
My deepest sympathies.
Cheers
Nan

I am sorry for your loss. I know time will help you remember the good times, but that is little consolation right now.
His participation on this forum surely helped someone along the way better understand their own struggles.

You are right that there needs to be more information shared about the serious dangers of sleep apnea. That is one of the reasons that many of us stick around this forum. We hope we can help ease a pain or lighten a burden for others.

Thank you for letting us know about Gord.

I am sorry to hear of your loss. My thoughts and prayers are headed your way.

The medical community may not respond until we shout out with a very loud voice that all is not well. I am thinking "the squeaky wheel gets the grease" so lets squeak.
