I have finally adjusted to being able to get a full night's sleep with this set up, but I now have overwhelming fatigue throughout the day. I have had the CPAP (VPAP?) for over six months and been using this mask for about three months. Sometimes I wake up with the mask on and other times I have pulled it off after about 3 hours. I have worked with my PCP to rule out other possible reasons for the fatigue which is becoming debilitating. Last night I slept without the CPAP and feel MUCH better today. I believe this is a real issue for some people including myself, that is being inadequately addressed by the industry supporting this therapy. I do recognize that I am getting positive benefits from using the CPAP, like not falling asleep by late afternoon or dozing off, but the fatigue is another matter that is literally overwhelming and affecting my ability to be physically active, focus and keep to task. I do have a dental device which I may go back to instead of the CPAP, though it is less effective against my SA. I'm losing weight and that may be the best overall solution. My CPAP does have data but I have gotten no feedback on this from Respironics or my sleep study doctor (a neurologist who I don't particularly trust, but should either follow up with or switch to another sleep study specialist). This is a very frustrating situation.

Well if you download and use Sleepyhead software we can help you find out what's happening... doesn't have to be a mystery.

Hi, How long have you been using xpap? Have you had followups with your sleep doctor?

Yes more tired in the past 6 weeks on CPAp and even sleeping through the night. Lots of congestion. Every day I sashay around like I have a cold. But sleeping all night and AHis down from 68 per hr to 2.5. Is this how it is? Is this worth it?

No -- The congestion is not having your humidifier at the right temp for your nose. Try up or down to see what stops the nose drips.

Cannot get over how tired I am since starting Cpap. Bummer. Is there an answer that makes senses for this?

Maybe if you could get all your log-in's to sleep at the same time. Jim

Yes...any number of possible answers.

It would really be helpful if you would keep all your questions to one thread instead of starting a new thread with each question.
It would help us help you better.

It would also help if you would log in and use your forum registered member ID instead of continually doing the guest posting thing.
We can't search all your gazillion threads and questions to see what has or hasn't been said to you when you continue to post as a non logged in forum member.
You are making a lot of extra work for folks trying to help you. It would be nice if you could maybe lessen that work load a bit.

As for why you feel more tired....we have zero way to know what might be going on because we don't know what your software reports or showing or even if your therapy is optimal and the reason might be something not related to sleep apnea at all.

I felt exactly the same way when I first started treatment! I had a severe brain fog and was practically sleep walking during the day. I felt almost like I had the flu because my muscles aches so badly. It was three weeks before I got help with pressure settings and therapy comfort measures and then I started to feel so much better! Now I wake up alert and am not sleepy at all during the day. I think most people's bodies need time to adapt to the major changes xpap therapy brings.

I hope you will stick with it and everything works out well for you!

Yes and I found out why.Bad fitting mask. Have had 6 already. was told your mouth must be closed shut when u r sleeping or u will continue to feel bad. Going to my drs office where there is (i hope ) a qualified therapist to fit me with a perfect mask. Will keep trying and will not leave til I get the right one. This includes trying it with various pressure settings.

For some, this is it. This is the life. I gave cpap 3 years, and was still extremely tired. Bought another unit, did the sleepyhead thing...AHI's all under 5, other readings showed nothing that would indicate what was wrong. Multiple blood tests showed no abnormalities. Some people just don't take well to the therapy. Maybe the mask and air pressure itself causes micro-arousals.

My god, to feel normal again.
