S9 replaced now H5i light doesn't come on when opening latch

Post by dave21 » Sat Oct 16, 2010 12:27 am

Hi,

I was seeing a bug in the S9 and had my S9 and H5i swapped out but noticed though that on my previous S9 and H5i (SX474-0601) that when I opened the latch on the H5i casing that the blue light would come on inside the H5i and the LCD of the S9 would light up.

Since having the S9 and H5i replaced with SX474-0602 I'm not getting the H5i light up or the S9 LCD light up unless I do something on the S9, e.g. turn the knob 1 click.

If you have an original S9 and H5i running SX474-0601 firmware do you get your blue light come on in the H5i when you open the latch?
How about if you're running SX474-0602?

Just an observation I noticed from switching between one unit running SX474-0601 and another running SX474-0602 and wondered what everyone else's observations are?

Interestingly I was also told that the skew was fixed in SX474-0602 but looking at other threads here dating back to June that SX474-0602 hasn't fixed the skew

Thanks
Dave

How can you tell which software your s9 is using?

@kempo hold SETUP and INFO buttons for 3 seconds, then go down to the spanner and you'll see SW which is the firmware version

@torontoCPAPguy I didn't update the firmware myself, the S9 appeared to develop a fault where it was seeing reduction in the flow when I was having Apneas, but wasn't flagging episodes as Apneas or Hypopneas and therefore wasn't increasing the pressure when set in Auto mode to take me out of an Apnea (essentially the same as breathing without a CPAP machine) and it happened every 3-4 days, so the machine was recently swapped out under warranty. The new machine came with the new firmware, but I noticed that the H5i light never comes on when I remove or replace the water container like it used to on the old machine and I'm wondering whether it's...

1) Something that has changed in the newer firmware so the light doesn't turn on anymore when you take the container out
2) Possibly unlucky and have a faulty H5i

The light on the H5i will come on if I turn the dial wheel one notch in either direction, just seems strange as it used to greet me when I opened the latch and removed or placed in the water container on my old S9 and H5i but on the new S9 and H5i it doesn't light up until I turn the dial wheel manually.

Thanks
Dave

My s9 auto has the 0602 SW and the light does NOT come on when I open the lid.

Thanks Kempo and Bikersguide, does it come on when you take out the water container though? Or does it remain off?

Hmmm strange, maybe I've had a faulty H5i all this time. It's always heated up okay and I kinda liked the light greeting me every time I took out the water container.

That's a shame, good to see though the new one isn't faulty as you're all seeing the same thing.

Thanks
Dave

Mine is the 0602 version, and the light in the humidifier does NOT light up if I only open the humidifier. The other difference from your description is that the light in my humidifier glows orange/red - not blue.

It'll gow red/orange when it's heating up but when it's not in use or cooling down it will glow blue.

Thanks
Dave

I cannot recall seeing anything other than the orange/red color, but will pay closer attention going forward.

Turn the humidifier down to 0 and it should glow blue.
