I sleep in my recliner once in awhile, but not all the time. If I am having problems with my back and neck or I have a bad cold and can't or I should say trouble breathing I sleep in my recliner otherwise I sleep in my bed, using my Bi-Pap Machine.

I have been having a problem with mask leaks and can't seem to find anything
that helps a lot on a consistent basis. Shoot I even bought one of those $40 Buckweat
pillows and that made things worse. Am I safe to assume that sleeping in a recliner would
likely reduce mask leaks? I haven't taken the plunge and bought a recliner yet and wanted
some feedback first. And as a rule would you need a lower or higher pressure when using
a recliner than when side sleeping ?

pre cpap when living in the north east I used to fall asleep at night while waiting for the fire place to settle down. It wasn't a lazy boy just a cheapo fake leather one but it did have heat and vibration

A recliner is useful following a septoplasty surgery when its tough to even use cpap for a few nights.

I got rid of it when I had kids because the metal mechanism could very easily slice off fingers.

I wouldn't use or depend on a recliner full time because of what it might otherwise do to my body, but also because I doubt if it's some ultimate answer for mask leaks. There has to be a better way and you need to try other FFMs, but do it lying down as your face changes a lot then. Cpap.com has many to look at and lets you try them x 30 days.

My mom has been sleeping in a recliner for 10+ years, and also uses a cpap machine. She sleeps in the living room, so I pass by her when she is sleeping. Most nights, she is fine. But there are nights when her mask is hissing away. Major leaks.

Who would have thought it would be this challenging to sleep and breathe at the same time?

My recliner is trouble. If I recline it all the way back I can easily pass out.

Thanks for the subjection about taking a harder look at the cause of my leaks.
I am not positive but it looks like the %**** person that fit me for a medium FFM
was wrong. I downloaded one of those sizing guides and it looks like I need a large
FFM not a Medium. So these past 6 years I may have been using the wrong size mask.
A while back I bought a used cpap that came with a large FFM so I will give it a try tonight
well actually I already have taken a nap with it and it didn't leak but a one hour nap shure
isn't a fair trial.

Maybe if somebody made a frog-size recliner . . .

My wife and I both have osa. I require Pr560 minimum setting of 16 to get under 1 ahi . My sleep position does not seem to matter. My wife has same machine and can only tolerate a maximum minimum of 12 to get around 1 ahi . However, she would need about an 18 if she slept on her back. She has tried double raised pillows and even a recliner with the same results. If she could stay on stomach, she would probably not need Apap at all. It's all positional with her osa.
