Resmed Price Increase

Post by Torrent » Tue Mar 16, 2010 11:39 am

Hi All:

New member who just got his prescription today.

Friday got a quote for Resmed S9 Auto on Friday and today the price is over $400 higher due to new pricing policy.

Wondering if anyone has a source for reasonable price on this unit?

Thanks,

Torrent

I'm guessing that if ResMed initiated the increase, you won't find a supplier using the "old" prices. (Not if they want to continue retailing the ResMed line.)

But good luck!

Are you sure you're not seeing the new "minimum internet price"? The phone is not the internet, call them to see if the price is lower over the phone.

In fact, call a few places. Then call cpap.com (the hosts of this board) to see if they will price-match.

Hi,

Thanks for all the quick responses...

Unfortunately, I have checked around at the places mentioned (and others) and Resmed has mandated "Full Retail Pricing"
from the internet - phone calls included, no exceptions (I even had a verbal price quote from last Friday).

Looks like my prescription came a day late and four hundred dollars short !!

Yep. What Goofproof said.

Any time any brand decides it does not want the pricing of its products to be competitive, then the brand is saying loud-and-clear that it would obviously prefer you to buy one of the other brands, right? I would act according to that preference, since many people get great therapy from a number of brands of products. Maybe that brand felt it was getting too much market share and now wants to do something to help its competitors. How nice of them!

If your doc wrote a brand-specific Rx, get the doc to change the Rx.

There were two different versions of that "ResMed Minimum Internet Price" e-mail from a couple of weeks back, in two different threads.

They were open to different interpretations: 1) They will still sell at the lower price via phone, or 2) They were prohibited from selling at that lower price, period, and prices were really going up by 60%.

So far, on the face of this post, it looks like the second was correct? What an effing mess!

Can folks post a few specific prices on specific models, "before" and "after", just for the sake of clarity? Maybe without attribution to the specific vendor? I may be buying another machine soon, so interested ....

Thanks!

I just bought (last week) the S9 AutoSet CPAP Machine with Humidaire H5i Heated Humidifier with Climate Control for $739.

Same place (online price) is $1072. That's $333 increase in a week.

So, the good news is that anyone buying online today can then consider all the other brands to be $333 less expensive, relatively speaking!

Thanks! Is that $1.072 also the phone price?

I bought a swift FX last evening from cpap.com. Price was $ 99 but I was told when I called the first time that it was going up today. So I made sure I called back last night to order it (and a few other things too). Yes the price went up today.

Yes, I just called. There is no lower phone price any more.
