Good News for Respironics PR Users!!

Post by YawnGirl » Thu Dec 10, 2009 4:48 pm

After I lodged a complaint through their website:

I said:
"I currently use the REMstar Auto with A-flex. I use the encore viewer software. If you do not make the software available for your new PR system, my next machine will be from a company that provides patient software."

They responded:

Ms. Leonhart,

Philips Respironics will have software available for the patient for our PR System One line in the beginning of 2010.

Thank you,

Not that I'm a cynic, but having worked in the software universe for the past 18 years, I've learned that "first part of 2010" is code for "any day before 07/01/2010" (which would be the first day of the "second part" of 2010). And the vague promise of delivering some time before 07/01/2010 comes with the following unspoken conditional understanding: "unless we don't".

That's just how development goes.

Now here is a software realist - gives meaning to the once regularly quoted Microsoft byline
'real soon now'

When Microsoft or any software company says real soon, I think they mean sometime before you retire. Maybe! I was told a few weeks ago by HP that the new drivers and software for my flatbed scanner would be completed and released any day.
I still don't have the software or drivers.

I am happy that Microsoft is in the software business and not the medical business, just think of all the people who wouldn't have a chance.

I wonder too about this information.

I also emailed them about patient software for the PR System 1 and I got an email, just today, that said it would be available in the Spring of 2010.

I posted that email in another thread.

Seems they are giving people different dates.

Respironics is just a small acquisition to Philips corporation to add to their healthcare division. That said the Respironics site is only one place to direct displeasure at the software issue. The Philips corporations other divisions supply consumers with electronic entertainment devices. So you see cpap users and their families could or could not purchase products with the philips name on them. Philips is MULTI NATIONAL and I belive so is this forum. http://www.philips.com.

Available in Spring would mean before June 21st.

I used to work for a big software company, and we often talked about this date when we made promises of a spring release.
