The idea of using the Oracle in a two mask setup is at least 3.5 years old.

My Swift nasal pillows work very well but, recently I have very troublesome pressure leaks from my throat into my taped mouth.
.............

I will buy a second cpap machine and place it on my nightstand beside my first machine. I will also buy a Fisher & Paykel Oracle 452 Oral Mask (https://www.cpap.com/productpage/fisher ... -mask.html).

I will hook up my Swift nasal pillows to the first cpap machine and the oral mask to the second machine. Then I will put on both masks and turn both machines on and sleep peacefully!

If the coupling had an adjustable gate on one side, even better, because you could change the % flow to either mask...

So, did it WORK two years ago??? (If you can't REMEMBER, I'd say it probably didn't... )

I never claimed that this idea was original, just that I had this idea. My having the idea now does not preclude someone from having had it in the past. I never saw anyone's post from three and a half years ago and have no idea if it worked or if they even tried it. Moreover, even if I knew that someone had tried it before, I might still want to try it myself. Anything wrong with that?

You can do what you want to. I just post things here that can be used, ignored or ridiculed. Your choice.

I have the oracle and I think it would be easy for you to block.

I think you are going to find that the amount of drool build up you get while its in your mouth is quite annoying though.

Well boys and girls, I tried the dual mask setup last night and all I can say is... Fine, if you like sleeping in a wind tunnel! For some reason, the setup was very loud!

I also found that the Oracle mask is not for me. It really blows up my mouth if/when I relax my muscles and it stays in place by the fact that it's clamped on your lips. It really pulls hard on the lips -- I guess technically, it blows the lips out way too much. I think a great improvement for it would be to have some sort of bite-plate to keep the mask in place.

As a big fan of the MythBusters, I'll call this one BUSTED! Two masks are not better than one...

Still, my thanks to Velbor for providing the "Y" adapter that made the experiment possible.

I was wondering how this all ended up.

Thanks for the update.

Well, always nice to try out new setups. Wonder if you could set up to two machines with dual air controls, maybe less pressure for the Oracle....nah... forget about it.....

Did you ever try the Oracle as just a plug?

Have you considered just blocking up the Oracle and using it as a plug or stopper? Might be far easier and cheaper to do? If you can get used to sleeping with something in your mouth.

I know the air flow just dried out the back of my throat when I tried it before and at 17cm made me feel like I was hyperventilating.

Haven't tried that yet, Gumby. I would need to find a cork or rubber stopper that fits the opening on the Oracle as I don't want to ruin it with any kind of permanent plug...

Maybe just a few layers of plastic wrap screwed under that center threaded thing?

Uh, don't think so. Don't want sticky residue left on the mask...
