Squeaky swivel

Post by muskyjack » Mon Nov 09, 2009 12:25 pm

Any ideas on how to fix the squeaky swivels on the Resmeds' Micro & Activa LT? The area of the worst squeaks seem to be around the solid grey parts and started after they were about a couple months old. The squeaks are a high pitch and tend to wake me up after a position change. Tried tape but found need to have swivel funtional and hate to replace a mask or it's swivel when it still is fairly new.

I'm having that problem with the Mirage Micro, too. I'll be watching to see what advice you get.

Teflon pipe-thread tape. No mess, no fuss and will likely outlast the mask. (And, if it doesn't, it's easily replaced.)

Thanks. Looks like I will try the oil 1st because it is closest and will wash off . If it does not work will try to seperate the grey part (which may be a trick to get off without breaking something) and use plummer's tape but will try to find some "superglide" if the grey part does not pop off easy. All the above sure beats replacing something a part for $25 and getting the same issue shortly thereafter.

I don't have either of those specific masks, but every one I've had came apart easily. Look for either a snap-ring or a locking tab. Don't force anything or it will get really expensive...

Put "teflon fix" in the Search box, it's a common problem with the Resmed QuattroFF so that may be a problem with your mask too.

Happy to report the spray on oil worked and no more squeaks even after the cleanup. Could not fiqure out how the safely pop off the grey part of the swivel to do the teflon tape.
