question

I have been on Cpap for 3 years. love it. but recently, in the last 2 weeks, when I put my mask on, I find myself having to catch my breath. So much so, I can not sleep. Anyone experience this?

sounds like your pressure isn't right.

Major weight change, or some other medical type change might have done it.

If you list your equipment, somebody may be able to help.

Does the machine seem like it's outputting the same pressure that you are used to?
Are the vent holes on your mask clear and open?

Is the machine the original since you started therapy?

If you don't seem to have any other issues breathing, I'd suspect something wonky with your equipment. But if you don't suspect your equipment, you might need to see your doc.

Did you get your machine from a local DME? I bet you could take it in there and they could check it out for you.

Lie down without trying to sleep, and see if that happens then too. Your problem may not be related to cpap at all. If you have trouble breathing simply because you lie down, contact your doctor - or go to the ER.

I lay down all the time and I am fine, just when I put my mask on it starts. Very weird. Thanks for the help guys. I think it might be pressure is to much right now. Why would this change though after a couple of years? I ramped it down a little and seemed a little better.

Maybe the machine is old and is about to kick the bucket? I'd get it checked out... Or get a new one if possible.
