Well...... Im back from my doctors.

Post by Rockin Mama » Wed Mar 11, 2009 3:12 pm

And... She called the DME.... and she explained everything.. I went to DME, to speak with them, because that's what PA said to do... I get there, and they said "I am sorry for the trouble, here is your new machine"... but what gets me after talking to all of you, is they said "We'll ATTEMPT to bill tricare, i don't know that they cover this upgrade" as most of you said all CPAPs are the same code... so why wouldn't they?

Anyway i can gladly change my info i NOW have an ELITE II!!!!!!

Is there a dance smilie, because i could surely use it right now!

I'm not an insurance expert by any means, but it sounds to me like the DME just threw that out as a "sour grapes" final parting shot. It sounds like they got defeated in their attempt to buffalo you and so they threw out that little "threat" about the insurance just to get the last word in.

Way to go!!

What a good doctor and good Physician's Assistant you have...to go to bat for you like they have.

For new readers who may wonder if they have dropped in at the end of a story, you have.

Here's a link to Rockin Mama's saga leading up to getting the Elite II. Persistence did, indeed, pay off for her!

I think you're exactly right, mdbarthe. Struck me that way, too.

Well done, RM!

As I often say, there is only one person you must be responsible to for the rest of your life; I think you have found her.

One additional word of advice: wear comfortable shoes when you stand up for yourself, you'll be less likely to sit down and just take it.

Congratulations Rockin Momma! Everyone here is proud of you for sticking up for yourself and insisting on the proper equipment! You are one of the lucky ones (diagnosed young) and smart ones (came here to learn) so you will be one of the successful ones with your therapy. Good for you!

Good 4 U!! You go GIRL!! That Elite II is one honey of a machine—you are LUCKY to have it now and you can watch your own therapy every morning on the LCD window. I have the ELITE now too but they gave me the ESCAPE to begin with and when I changed insurance companies—I got a new machine thank goodness!! I still do use my ESCAPE though for travel and vacations. It is the same machine –---provides me with great sleep!! You are lucky to have had such a great doctor and PS. I wish all doctors knew a lot more about CPAP.

Besides trying to impart guilt feelings, I think they are trying to let you know to expect a bill for the difference. I would read very carefully anything you signed. You did get copies right? You should also get a copy of the script from them, while they are in the mood.

Congrats on your new machine. And don't forget Slinky's tip on the cookies

Yup, yup, and NOW we will share some more "secrets" with you!!!

These devices have an internal, 24 hour, noon to noon clock. So to get your previous night's detailed data via the LCD screen you must access that data before noon.

Press the Left and Right buttons and hold for 3-4 seconds. Efficacy Data should appear on the LCD screen. From there on it is a simple matter of Left button to Enter, Right button to Exit, Up button to return to the previous screen and Down button to proceed to the next screen. And no sweat - you can't accidentally or intentionally alter your therapy settings from this menu.

IF the Left/Right button push doesn't bring up Efficacy Data on your LCD screen, you local DME supplier didn't turn access to the detailed patient menu on in the Clincians Menu. But - we can remedy that too. (We've got all kinds of "tricks" up our sleeves in this forum).

None of us have come across the Clinicians Manual for the Elite II in pdf format yet - but give us time. Some one here will come up w/it and share it. Its just a matter of time. We're an innovative bunch.
