Zoot.....

For over a year, I've been using Lansenoh Lanolin.....it comes in a tube....breast-feeding moms use it. I apply it liberally (extrude about 1/4" of the stuff for each nare) so that it helps seal the nasal pillows...while adding to the comfort level. Some people use a product called "Ayr Gel"....but, I felt that lanolin was better for me.

I'm doing well with it.....I have almost zero mask leaks....and I have a very soft nose!

I suggest that you experiment.....just about any large drug store has the stuff....it's in the "baby products" section. I think it'd work well with the mask you are using.

I use just a light dab between thumb & forefinger, some on my pillows, some on my nares, and some for my lips. It does seem to help with leaks, compared to w/o. I found Ayr gel just way too slippery.

I had the same experience with Ayr gel---could not keep the nasal thingy's from sliding out of my nares when I used it on the edges! I have wondered if Lansenoh Lanolin stays goopy all night, or does it kind of get solidified and tacked up to the nasal pillows?

As a 11+ year user, I can attest to the fact that my Breeze pillows have definitely and noticeably increased the opening of my nares.
I have picked my nose enough during my 68 years to know of which I I talk.
The constant pressure for 8+ hours per night is enough to enlarge them.
Many others have reported the same.
Others results may differ due to amt of pressure exerted against the sides of the nares or total time used.
I have a bad habit of using my cpap while reading or watching tv from my bed.
Not good, I know, but I use it much more than the hours sleeping.
Not good, I know.

Absolutely no question IN MY CASE.
So uhhhh .... what you are saying is that those vacuum based penis enlargers do work if used during sleep for 11+ years?

OK...plr66.....

Now I'll give you the rest of the story on Lansenoh...........

Yes.... the stuff stays goopy all night.......And by morning, there's still enough of it left...to act as a shaving lubricant. My Norelco works better when my beard has Lansenoh on it.

That should certainly prove that only "Manley Men" use Lansenoh on their nares!

I have been using the swift LT for a year now and I havent noticed my nares getting larger. I have noticed my buttocks getting larger though. I dont think its from the mask though. I dont wear it on that end.

Hi,

I am trying to decide whether or not to switch to the nasal pillows. However, reading your posts I am wondering if Lanolin would help with the nasal mask I am using. Even my new one seems to slip a little when I turn over and wakes me. I have to adjust it and the headgear. Do you think the Lanolin might help seal it better or should I give the nasal pillows a try?

Thanks,
Mary

Mary,

I tried several different mask before switching to the Nasal Pillows. Mostly because the pillows scared me. I thought there is no way they could be comfortable. The pillows are the best thing I ever did. No leaks and a wonderful nites sleep.

Are you sure that lanolin is ok to use on your mask? something has been said about that in the past but I forget what. sorry!

looking at a picture of my nares I took when I started cpap just over 2 yrs ago (intended to help me decide if slotted or round) I'd say mine look
about the same. Not a pretty sight from that angle though.
BUT if size is really affected does that mean that thru taping my lips in a compressed manner they will eventually
stay turned inside out as it were? Buttocks seem about the same, nose getting larger with age I think.

Mary........

Apply the Scientific Method along with the Lansenoh......run some experiments.

Ms Piggy........

Lanolin doesn't hurt your mask..........no more than it'd hurt a baby.......'nuff said?

This is not a comment about Lanolin: Some things may not hurt a baby, and yet harm mask material. Mask makers are for instance very consistent in recommending "soap without softeners" - but I've recently seen softener was added to the baby shapmoo I had been using.... etc.

This is bound to be my last stupid question of the day (well on this site anyway) - using the Swift LT, i know my nose is "infating" - and i'm starting to develop the callous the sleep technician mentioned i would (which is supposed to be a good thing, i suppose) - question - will using the pillows each night permanenty increase the size of my already generous honker?
i keep envisioning those PBS specials of the pygmies with 30 inch diameter "frisbees" in their earlobes - i don't want to trip on my nostrils or suck all of the air out of the room when i enter (as opposed to sucking out all the joy) - does anyone know the effects of "infating" our nostrils for some 6 to 8 hours each night?
Thanks!

Lets just say I started out with small pillows , then moved to medium, then large, now they are loose. No, No, No I'm only kidding, after two years still the same size as when first starting, no problems.
