S8 Elite detailed data download via ResScan
Apparently the S8 Elite II, the S8 Elite, and S8 Autoset models) provide "low resolution" detailed data via the ResScan Data Card and this low resolution data is equivalent to Autoscan Night Profile data. Can anyone please tell me what the difference is between this level of data and "true" detailed data?
Re: S8 Elite detailed data download via ResScan
Have you noticed in the upper left corner of your detailed graphs you can select the timed intervals of the graph data, i.e. 10 second, 1 hour, 8 hour 12, hour etc.?

the data you really NEED is already available on the LCD display, IF you know how to get to it and have it enabled.
You hold down the center and right button at the same time for 3 seconds to access the menu, once there, scroll
down to Options, then Smart Data, then enable Auto Appear. For quick access to that data, you press and hold down
the outside left and right button for 3 seconds.

Just be sure when you go into the Clinicians Menu (Right and Down buttons) that the first time thru you write down what appears on EACH screen. You can change your therapy settings in the menu - accidentally or intentionally. If you write down what appears on each screen as you go thru the first time you will know what your original, scripted settings were. That way, if you what to set any changes made back to the original settings you will know what they are.

Re: S8 Elite detailed data download via ResScan
AutoScan software did make a distinction between "low resolution" nightly profile data from the machine - one entry per minute for pressure and leak (I've been trying to find out from ResMed whether that is the median, mean, or last value for the minute, without success so far) and "high resolution" detail data from the ResLink module - entries every few seconds, with additional data such as snore, flattening and tidal volume. The ResScan software does not appear to refer to this distinction as explicitly.PaulyWally wrote:Apparently the S8 Elite II, the S8 Elite, and S8 Autoset models) provide "low resolution" detailed data via the ResScan Data Card and this low resolution data is equivalent to Autoscan Night Profile data. Hey, Velbor! Have you ever tried to access your settings via ResScan when using the ResLink? I can't. I have to make any Settings changes via the VPAP Auto itself rather than thru the ResScan. The Settings say they do not recognize the device, altho obviously ResScan does recognize the ResLink and report its data.

Re: S8 Elite detailed data download via ResScan
I only have ResLink for the S7 family. The ResLink for S8 machines is a completely different creature. Since I'm currently using an S8 Vantage, I haven't used the ResLink for a long time, and I've never used it with the ResScan software (only with AutoScan). I do anticipate pulling my old S7 and ResLink out of storage for some "special experiments" within the next month or two, and I hope I'll remember to try them out with ResScan, as well as my preferred AutoScan.Slinky wrote:Hey, Velbor! I have tried feeding old S7 ResLink data stored on my computer into the ResScan software, without success. Import doesn't seem to recognize the presence of old ResLink files. And although both old ResLink files and new ResScan detail data files are named .rlk, they dont seem to be compatible. File naming conventions are different. But even when I rename the old files, the data they contain isn't read by ResScan. (Having a correctly "date-named" .rlk file makes the date show up in the left-side ResScan bar as having detail data available, but no data can be "loaded" into ResScan.
As for settings, I've never tried using the ResScan card to accomplish a machine settings change. In response to your question, just now I opened the Settings menu with a ResScan data card in place, and it DID recognize my device as a Vantage (had to go to the bottom of a list to select it) and it DID offer me the opportunity to change my settings via the card. I must say that I was disappointed; that menu did NOT seem to know what my current settings were. All of the pressure settings, for example, were set with a default value of 4. This seems quite dangerous; unless the user is very careful to reset ALL parameters, even those which you don't intend to change, it appears that the software will instruct the machine to utilize the defaults.
I don't have any reason to think that ResLink can be used to convey settings instructions from the software to the machine. With my old S7 and AutoScan, I did occasionally modify machine settings over the serial null-modem cable. My new computer doesn't even have a serial port connector; I will have to try out a serial-to-USB adapter, and if that doesn't work, fire up an older computer when I drag out my old PAP equipment.
Slinky, do I understand from your question that you now are successfully using your ResLink module with your VPAP Auto? I haven't noticed a post from you describing your experience with ResLink; please update me!!

Re: S8 Elite detailed data download via ResScan
I called my sleep lab and told them I thought I needed some therapy adjustments. No one was in except office staff. I anticipated an appointment w/the sleep doctor and was PLEASED when they said the RPSGT wasn't there at the moment but that quite likely I could bring my data in to see the RPSGT and go from there. They said they'd call back and set it up.
No call. So I called to make an appointment w/my original sleep doctor who is no longer w/this sleep lab despite his being an hour's drive away. I had an appointment w/my pulmo and TRIED to talk to him about it but he wasn't even interested in trying to grasp the data I wanted to point out - namely the amount of time spent below 90% 02. However, he now has a sleep pulmo in his office and scheduled me w/an appointment w/him. Three weeks down the line. The same day as my appointment w/my old sleep pulmo!
So, I'm fed up. I added 2L of 02 supplementation to the bi-level therapy. I'm scheduled at Mayo Clinic 20 October and I've asked that they schedule a consult at the sleep clinic there. I've also changed my settings to IPAP 13, EPAP 7, PS 5.
Mayo is my LAST attempt at communication w/the sleep profession. They blow it and I fly solo from there on out!

Which Mayo are you going to?
I would be interested in hearing of your experiences with their sleep people.
I go to the one in Scottsdale, AZ quite often but haven't been for sleep stuff.

Actually, this is not the data I really need. This data only gives a daily reading of leak, Ai, Hi and AHI. I need moreSnoredog wrote:the data you really NEED is already available on the LCD display, IF you know how to get to it and have it enabled.

Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN for us, Willie. Family has been going there for over 50 years. 12 hour drive one way.
I apologize for my foul mood. Just still in a twit about these surgeries (not OSA related!) even tho I wouldn't have them done anywhere but Mayo, Rochester. I'll get over it in a few days - until its time to get ready to leave for Rochester.

Re: S8 Elite detailed data download via ResScan
Got the following feedback from ResMed Technical Services in Aussie land:
First:
The High Rate Data - Flow feature supports a resolution of 25 samples per second for flow data (1 data point every 40ms).
The ResMed S8 Series II models support this rate when used with an attached ResLink option. Without the ResLink the S8 Series II data sampling rate is low resolution.
High Rate Data is part of a major enhancement to the ResScan software to allow this data to be acquired and displayed as a new graph for the display of flow (currently the only high rate data signal that ResScan needs to handle). Page 33 of the ResScan V3.5 Clinical Guide describes the split screen facility whereby the high rate flow data can be displayed graphically.
Night profile data is a term used with the older AutoScan software on which ResScan has been developed from. Detailed data is the term now used with ResScan and is effectively the same as Night Profile data.
Due to constraints on the size of memory used in the FG the retention of detailed data is restricted to the last 5 days of data recording. Older detailed data is automatically converted to Summary data (bar graph) which retains most of the information however you lose the visual benefit of the detailed data waveform graph.
Second:
The ResMed ResLink was developed to use the 32Mbyte SMC cards. This means that you only get 5 nights of the high rate data. On the 6th night the oldest hi-rate data is over written. A further stated restriction is that you can only record 12 hrs of data each night. In fact, you can record 15hrs for 5 nights. If you try to record 16 hours on each of 5 nights, the card will become full during the 5th night and then data recording stops completely.
Cheers to ResMed Australia for providing this information.
