Yet another change to the M series humidifier!!

Post by akcpapguy » Thu May 01, 2008 11:54 am

I do however feel that this is a good change, if it does infact work. They have change the power connection so that it connects the same way the old Legacy series humidifiers connected. So the power connector plugs into the humidifier and than from the humidifier into the cpap/bipap.

Here is the big change, according to the tech at Respironics (who I spoke with this morning), the humidifier will operate off 12v power along with the cpap/bipap. I am going to take it out to my truck at lunch and see it it actually heats up. I will post pictures on my photobucket when I get home from work.

Something tells me that with all the problems they've had with the M Series, they'd have been money ahead to just stick with the Legacy series and make a few improvements......like eliminating all of the models that don't collect data and adding a clock-setting feature.

Great, does that mean that those of us with the older models are going to be left out in the cold since it won't connect to our Power bricks any more!

M series humidifier

Post by bluesman77 » Thu May 01, 2008 1:28 pm

Did they change the humidifier itself or only the power cord/brick? I am only a month into CPAP and have been looking into ways to run off a battery or DC.

A-MEN!!!!!!, Den, AMEN!!!!! They had a good product and didn't know enough to stay w/it!!!! They'd be wise to dump the M Series name too!

Aphorisms come to mind, i.e.:

If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

I'm always willing to accept change, just as long as it isn't change for the sake of change. If that change will result in a better way of doing things, then I'm all for it.
--James K. Van Fleet

Change is inevitable; progress is optional.

Of course, there are just as many going the OTHER way but... This is Respironics' M Series we are talking about--AGAIN!

Cheers!

Karen

Yeah,

I have not read this forum for a long time until recently I had a problem with my M series blower.
The problem was due to water damage. I believe it's due to the slow leak and trapped water inside the unit. While having it repaired at APRIA, the company did replace also the humidifier unit which has the same look as the one I had about 1.5 year ago but the water tank outlet design is totally different. The seal is thicker, stronger, round shape (naturally better) like a PVC coupling in plumbing.

I have used it for 3 nights so far and the system is very well sealed without one drop of leak. I am glad to have it replacled.
